A novel Ce-IV-complex of 1,4,7-tris(carbamoylmethyl)-1,4,7-triazacyclononane has been synthesized. The complex is both stable in aqueous solutions at neutral pH and very efficient in promoting the hydrolysis of a phosphodiester model compound and yeast tRNA(phe). The RNA model compound, 2-hydroxypropyl-p-nitrophenylphosphate hydrolysis is accelerated 7400-fold at pH 7.5, as a result of an unprecedented hydrolytic activity.

A Low Band Gap Benzimidazole Derivative and Its Copolymer with 3,4-Ethylenedioxythiophene for Electrochemical Studies
Soylemez, Saniye; Hacioglu, Serife O.; Uzun, Sema Demirci; Toppare, Levent Kamil (The Electrochemical Society, 2014-11-7)
A novel monomer; 2-(3-nitrophenyl)-4,7-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole) (BIMN) was used for electrochemical copolymerization with 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT). Polymerization was achieved in acetonitrile (ACN)/dichloromethane (DCM) (1:1, 1:3 and 1:5, molar ratios) solution containing sodium perchlorate (NaClO4) and lithium perchlorate (LiClO4) mixture as the supporting electrolyte on an ITO electrode. The chemical structures of monomer and copolymers were characterized by nuclear magnetic resona...
A sensitive and selective ratiometric near IR fluorescent probe for zinc ions based on the distyryl-bodipy fluorophore
Atilgan, Serdar; Ozdemir, Tugba; AKKAYA, Engin Umut (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2008-09-18)
A novel distyryl-substituted boradiazaindacene (bodipy) dye with an emission peak moving hypsochromically from 730 to 680 nm on Zn(II) ion binding seems to be promising as one of the very few water-soluble fluorescent chemosensors emitting in the near IR region.
Analysis of the energy justice in natural gas distribution with Multiscale Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR)
Şenyel Kürkçüoğlu, Müzeyyen Anıl (2023-12-01)
The Author(s)Energy justice is violated when particular customers and locations are excluded from a variety of urban energy service distribution. This study explores energy justice in terms of natural gas distribution by providing empirical evidence from 356 neighborhoods of Izmir Metropolitan Area (IMA). The aim is to reveal driving factors of natural gas investment and the spatial reflections of the relationships between investment, and socio-economic and physical characteristics. A global regression mode...
NekRS, a GPU-accelerated spectral element Navier–Stokes solver
Fischer, Paul; Kerkemeier, Stefan; Min, Misun; Lan, Yu-Hsiang; Phillips, Malachi; Rathnayake, Thilina; Merzari, Elia; Tomboulides, Ananias; Karakuş, Ali; Chalmers, Noel; Warburton, Tim (2022-12-01)
The Author(s)The development of NekRS, a GPU-oriented thermal-fluids simulation code based on the spectral element method (SEM) is described. For performance portability, the code is based on the open concurrent compute abstraction and leverages scalable developments in the SEM code Nek5000 and in libParanumal, which is a library of high-performance kernels for high-order discretizations and PDE-based miniapps. Critical performance sections of the Navier–Stokes time advancement are addressed. Performance re...
Electrochromism with selenophene derivatives
Aydemir, Kadir; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Department of Chemistry (2008)
A novel selenophene-based monomer; 1,4-di(selenophen-2-yl) benzene (DSB), synthesized via Stille coupling reaction of 1,4 dibromobenzene and tributyl (2-selenophenyl) stannane and corresponding conducting homopolymer (Poly (DSB)) was electrochemically synthesized in the presence of tetrabutylammoniumhexafluorophosphate (TBAPF6) as the supporting electrolyte in dichloromethane. The resulting conducting polymer was characterized by Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), Fourier Transform Infra Red Spectrometry (FTIR) and U...
