Preparation of zeolite A tubes from amorphous aluminosilicate extrudates
Oezcan, Aysenur; Kalıpçılar, Halil (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2006-07-05)
A method is presented for the hydrothermal synthesis of binderless zeolite A bars and tubes with high purity from amorphous aluminosilicate extrudates. The solid that was separated from a hydrogel was mixed with an aqueous solution of hydroxyethyl cellulose to obtain a paste, which was extruded into bars and tubes. After calcination, amorphous bars and tubes were converted to zeolite A in the liquid phase that was separated from the hydrogel. The zeolite bars and tubes were composed of cubic zeolite A cryst...
Synthesis of ZSM-5-type zeolite membranes on, porous disks loaded with different amounts of seed
Dincer, Eser; Kalıpçılar, Halil; Culfaz, Ali (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2008-07-16)
ZSM-5-type zeolite membranes were synthesized at 130 degrees C on alumina supports coated with seed crystals by vacuum seeding. Compact and uniform ZSM-5 layers were formed on the support surfaces when the amount of seed was less than 1 mg/cm(2). Higher loading of seed crystals resulted in an asymmetric structure with a compact and uniform ZSM-5 layer on top, the support at the bottom, and the seed layer in between. Fifty-one membranes were prepared on supports coated with different amounts of seed. About 7...
Dimensionless parameter approach for oxygen delignification kinetics
Dogan, Ismail; Gueruez, Gueniz (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2008-08-20)
In this study, the kinetic analysis of oxygen delignification of Turkish southern hardwood Kraft pulp was carried out. The kinetic rate data were collected in a high pressure batch reactor at industrially significant conditions of temperature, alkali charge, and oxygen partial pressure. The mass transfer effects were examined for the system studied. After eliminating the mass transfer resistances in the delignification system, the kinetics of oxygen delignification was studied and the governing rate equatio...
Structure sensitivity of selective co oxidation over precious metal catalysts
Atalık, Bora; Üner, Deniz; Department of Chemical Engineering (2005)
In this study, the effect of Pt particle size on the reaction rate and selectivity of preferential oxidation of CO (PROX) reaction was investigated on Pt/Al2O3. 2% Pt/?-Al2O3 catalysts were prepared by incipient wetness method; the particle size of the catalysts was modified by calcination temperature and duration. Therefore, the relative amounts of low and high coordination atoms on the metal particle surface can be changed. Over these catalysts, first, the CO oxidation reaction was studied in the absence ...
