In models of anomaly-mediated supersymmetry breaking (AMSB), the lightest chargino is predicted to have a lifetime long enough to be detected in collider experiments. This letter explores AMSB scenarios in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV by attempting to identify decaying charginos which result in tracks that appear to have few associated hits in the outer region of the tracking system. The search was based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.02 fb(-1) collected with the ATLAS detector in 2011. The p(T) spectrum of candidate tracks is found to be consistent with the expectation from Standard Model background processes and constraints on the lifetime and the production cross section were obtained. In the minimal AMSB framework with m(3/2) < 32 TeV, m(0) < 1.5 TeV, tan beta = 5 and mu > 0, a chargino having mass below 92 GeV and a lifetime between 0.5 ns and 2 ns is excluded at 95 % confidence leve

A theoretical study on vomitoxin and its tautomers
Türker, Burhan Lemi; Guemues, Selcuk (Elsevier BV, 2009-04-15)
In the present work, the structural and electronic properties of vomitoxin (deoxynivalenol, a mycotoxin) and all of its possible tautomers have been investigated by the application of B3LYP/6-31 G(d,p) type quantum chemical calculations. According to the results of the calculations, tautomer V-4 has been found to be the most stable one among all the structures both in the gas and aqueous phases. The calculations also indicated that, vomitoxin and V-2 possess the deepest and the highest lying HOMO levels, re...
Measurement of the azimuthal ordering of charged hadrons with the ATLAS detector
Aad, G.; et. al. (2012-09-14)
This paper presents a study of the possible ordering of charged hadrons in the azimuthal angle relative to the beam axis in high-energy proton-proton collisions at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). A spectral analysis of correlations between longitudinal and transverse components of the momentum of the charged hadrons, driven by the search for phenomena related to the structure of the QCD field, is performed. Data were recorded with the ATLAS detector at center-of-mass energies of root s = 900 GeV and root s...
Modeling of the atomic ordering processes in Fe3Al intermetallics by the Monte Carlo simulation method combined with electronic theory of alloys
Mehrabov, Amdulla; Akdeniz, Mahmut Vedat (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2003-12-01)
The evolution of atomic ordering processes in Fe3Al has been modeled by the Monte Carlo (MC) simulation method combined with the electronic theory of alloys in pseudopotential approximation. The magnitude of atomic ordering energies of atomic pairs in the Fe3Al system has been calculated by means of electronic theory in pseudopotential approximation up to sixth coordination spheres and subsequently used as input data for MC simulation for more detailed analysis for the first time. The Bragg–Williams long-ra...
A theoretical study of chemical doping and width effect on zigzag graphene nanoribbons
Pekoz, Rengin; Erkoç, Şakir (Elsevier BV, 2009-12-01)
The energetics and the electronic properties of nitrogen- and boron-doped graphene nanoribbons with zigzag edges have been investigated using density functional theory calculations. For the optimized geometry configurations, vibrational frequency analysis and wavefunction stability tests have been carried out. Different doping site optimizations for a model nanoribbon have been performed and formation energy values of these sites revealed that zigzag edgesite for both of the dopants were the most favorable ...
SENSITIVITY OF THE ASYMMETRY OF THE POLARIZED B-QUARK RADIATIVE B-]S-GAMMA-G DECAY TO THE MODEL FCNC
Alıyev, Tahmasıb; PAK, NK; REKALO, MP (1995-01-26)
The effects induced by the initial b-quark longitudinal polarization in the rare b-->s gamma g decay in the standard (SM) and two Higgs doublet (2HDM) models are investigated. Using the structure functions formalism we calculate different asymmetries in b-->s gamma g decay in terms of the magnetic dipole type form factors, which describe the b-->s gamma and b-->sg transitions. It is shown that the general expressions for the structure functions are model independent; the model dependent information is conta...
