Study of Z boson production in pPb collisions at root S-NN=5.02 TeV
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2016-08-01)
The production of Z bosons in pPb collisions at root S-NN = 5.02 TeV is studied by the CMS experiment via the electron and muon decay channels. The inclusive cross section is compared to pp collision predictions, and found to scale with the number of elementary nucleon-nucleon collisions. The differential cross sections as a function of the Z boson rapidity and transverse momentum are measured. Though they are found to be consistent within uncertainty with theoretical predictions both with and without nucle...
Study of W boson production in pPb collisions at root(NN)-N-S=5.02 TeV
Adam, W.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2015-11-01)
The first study of W boson production in pPb collisions is presented, for bosons decaying to a muon or electron, and a neutrino. The measurements are based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 34.6 nb(-1) at a nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energy of root(NN)-N-S = 5.02 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment. The W boson differential cross sections, lepton charge asymmetry, and forward-backward asymmetries are measured for leptons of transverse momentum exceeding 25 GeV/c, and as a fu...
Study of W boson production in PbPb and pp collisions at root s(NN)=2.76 TeV
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (Elsevier BV, 2012-08-01)
A measurement is presented of W-boson production in PbPb collisions carried out at a nucleon-nucleon (NN) centre-of-mass energy root S-NN of 2.76 TeV at the LHC using the CMS detector. In data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.3 mu b(-1), the number of W -> mu v(mu) decays is extracted in the region of muon pseudorapidity vertical bar eta mu vertical bar 25 GeV/c. Yields of muons found per unit of pseudorapidity correspond to (159 +/- 10(stat.) +/- 12(syst.)) x 10(-8) W and (154 +/- 10(stat.) ...
Study of Z Boson Production in PbPb Collisions at root s(NN)=2.76 TeV
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (2011-05-01)
A search for Z bosons in the mu(+)mu(-) decay channel has been performed in PbPb collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC, in a 7.2 mu b(-1) data sample. The number of opposite-sign muon pairs observed in the 60-120 GeV/c(2) invariant mass range is 39, corresponding to a yield per unit of rapidity (y) and per minimum bias event of [33.8 +/- 5.5(stat) +/- 4.4(syst)] x 10(-8), in the vertical bar y vertical bar < 2.0 range. Rapidity, transverse momentum, and centrality dependencies...
Study of charged hadron multiplicities in charged-current neutrino-lead interactions in the OPERA detector
Agafonova, N.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2018-01-24)
The OPERA experiment was designed to search for nu(mu) -> nu(tau) oscillations in appearance mode through the direct observation of tau neutrinos in the CNGS neutrino beam. In this paper, we report a study of the multiplicity of charged particles produced in charged-current neutrino interactions in lead. We present charged hadron average multiplicities, their dispersion and investigate the KNO scaling in different kinematical regions. The results are presented in detail in the form of tables that can be use...
