Battery energy limitation is one of the main challenges in the mobile ad hoe networks. Several hardware and software based techniques have been proposed in this field. Energy aware task scheduling is one of the software methods where the scheduling policy aims at optimizing the energy. Most of the previous work have achieved significant energy savings for individual mobile nodes but did not consider overall network lifetime and scalability.

Scalable Energy-Aware Dynamic Task Allocation

Mobility and power aware data interest based data replication for mobile ad hoc networks
Arslan, Seçil; Bozyiğit, Müslim; Department of Computer Engineering (2007)
One of the challenging issues for mobile ad hoc network (MANET) applications is data replication. Unreliable wireless communication, mobility of network participators and limited resource capacities of mobile devices make conventional replication techniques useless for MANETs. Frequent network divisions and unexpected disconnections should be handled. In this thesis work, a novel mobility and power aware, data interest based data replication strategy is presented. Main objective is to improve data accessibi...
Joint optimization of cell zooming, scheduling and user association
Çalık, Mert; Onur, Ertan; Department of Computer Engineering (2018)
Capacity can be increased by employing small cells in future mobile networks. When small cells are considered, a large number of base stations have to be deployed. This approach enlarges network infrastructures and increases the amount of energy consumption. Traffic demand in a mobile network is not fixed in time or space, and it cannot be accurately predicted in advance. Network functions such as base station scheduling, cell zooming or user-to-base-station association can be dynamically controlled to cons...
OPTIMUM PLACEMENT AND COST-BENEFIT ANALYSIS OF BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS
Hökelek, İsmail Harun; Güven, Ali Nezih; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2022-2-07)
There are many challenges associated with the integration of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) into the power system. Some of these challenges are determining the sizing of BESS and finding the optimum placement of these devices in the grid. The primary motivation of this study is to handle the placement and sizing problem of BESS. In the vast majority of studies, the optimum BESS locations have been found by calculating loss sensitivity factor (LSF) under peak load conditions. However, this approach wi...
Energy packet model optimisation with approximate matrix inversion
Ceran Arslan, Elif Tuğçe; Gelenbe, Erol (2016-06-21)
The ow of energy in a network of intermittent sources of energy, such as renewables, batteries, and of work such as sensing tasks, communication packets and tasks executed in computer servers, is modeled as an Energy Packet Network. Both tasks for execution and energy flows into the system are random processes. A G-Network is used to model the system where both tasks and data packets, and energy in the form of discrete units, move between energy storage units, network routers and computing servers. This que...
