A Conditional coverage path planning method for an autonomous lawn mower
Karol, Ardıç; Konukseven, Erhan İlhan; Koku, Ahmet Buğra; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2016)
Randomized and deterministic coverage path planning methods are widely used in autonomous lawn mowers. Random planning cannot guarantee a complete coverage, whereas, many deterministic techniques are not solely eligible for unstructured outdoor environments, since they highly suffer from wheel slippage or numerical drift. Besides, complete coverage techniques either demands high computational power or expensive sensor hardware. A genuine, Conditional Coverage Path Planning (CCPP) method, which satisfies com...
A Hierarchical Architecture for Nonblocking Control of Discrete Event Systems
Schmidt, Klaus Verner; PERK, SEBASTIAN (2006-03-13)
This contribution investigates the hierarchical control of decentralized DES which are synchronized by shared events. A multi-level hierarchical control architecture providing hierarchical consistency is introduced. Moreover, it allows for composition of decentralized subsystems on the high-level of the hierarchy, and hence reduces the computational complexity of supervisory control synthesis for language inclusion specifications. In this context, a crucial issue is the nonblocking operation of the overall ...
A behavior based robot control system using neuro-fuzzy approach
Öğüt, Demet; Alpaslan, Ferda Nur; Department of Computer Engineering (2003)
In autonomous navigation of mobile robots the dynamic environment is a source of problems. Because it is not possible to model all the possible conditions, the key point in the robot control is to design a system that is adaptable to different conditions and robust in dynamic environments. This study presents a reactive control system for a Khepera robot with the ability to navigate in a dynamic environment for reaching goal objects. The main motivation of this research is to design a robot control, which i...
A Control System Architecture for Control of Non-Affine in Control, Open-Loop Unstable Underactuated Systems
Marangoz, Alp; Kutay, Ali Türker (2017-07-25)
In this paper, a control system architecture for control of non-affine in control, open-loop unstable underactuated system is discussed. Passivization of the unactuated (internal) system dynamics achieved through perturbation of trajectories of the actuated states, which are calculated through adaptive dynamic inversion technique, based on Tikhonov's theorem. Performance of the controller is shown through simulation of two open-loop unstable and locally uncontrollable example problems.
A neuro-fuzzy MAR algorithm for temporal rule-based systems
Sisman, NA; Alpaslan, Ferda Nur; Akman, V (1999-08-04)
This paper introduces a new neuro-fuzzy model for constructing a knowledge base of temporal fuzzy rules obtained by the Multivariate Autoregressive (MAR) algorithm. The model described contains two main parts, one for fuzzy-rule extraction and one for the storage of extracted rules. The fuzzy rules are obtained from time series data using the MAR algorithm. Time-series analysis basically deals with tabular data. It interprets the data obtained for making inferences about future behavior of the variables. Fu...
