Sampling of sentinel lymph nodes - A simulation study
Celasun, B; Mumcuoglu, EU; Kalkan, H (2005-08-01)
OBJECTIVE: To analyze the effects of various slicing schemes on the detection of metastases in lymph nodes.
Sampling Performance of Multiple Independent Molecular Dynamics Simulations of an RNA Aptamer
Yan, Shuting; Peck, Jason M.; İlgü, Müslüm; Nilsen-Hamilton, Marit; Lamm, Monica H. (2020-08-01)
Using multiple independent simulations instead of one long simulation has been shown to improve the sampling performance attained with the molecular dynamics (MD) simulation method. However, it is generally not known how long each independent simulation should be, how many independent simulations should be used, or to what extent either of these factors affects the overall sampling performance achieved for a given system. The goal of the present study was to assess the sampling performance of multiple indep...
Sampling of the Wiener Process for Remote Estimation Over a Channel With Random Delay
Sun, Yin; Polyanskiy, Yury; Uysal, Elif (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2020-02-01)
In this paper, we consider a problem of sampling a Wiener process, with samples forwarded to a remote estimator over a channel that is modeled as a queue. The estimator reconstructs an estimate of the real-time signal value from causally received samples. We study the optimal online sampling strategy that minimizes the mean square estimation error subject to a sampling rate constraint. We prove that the optimal sampling strategy is a threshold policy, and find the optimal threshold. This threshold is determ...

Sampling frame coverage and domain adjustment procedures for internet surveys
Asan, Zerrin; Ayhan, Hüseyin Öztaş (2013-10-01)
The objective of this paper is to define and compare alternative sampling frames for the representative population coverage as a basis for sample selection in internet surveys. The study aims to provide a methodology for domain weighting and adjustment procedures for free access web surveys that are based on the restricted access surveys. Some basic variables can be proposed for the data adjustment, namely gender breakdown, age groups, and education groups. The application of our work consists of a first st...
