Polystyrene-b-poly(2-vinyl phenacyl pyridinium) salts as photoinitiators for free radical and cationic polymerizations and their photoinduced molecular associations
Taskin, Omer Suat; Erel Göktepe, İrem; Khan, Muhammad Alyaan Ahmed; Pispas, Stergios; Yağcı, Yusuf (Elsevier BV, 2014-07-01)
Polystyrene-b-poly(2-vinyl phenacyl pyridinium hexafluorophosphate) (PS-b-PVPP) was synthesized by reacting polystyrene-b-poly(2-vinyl pyridine) prepared by living anionic polymerization with phenacyl bromide followed by counter anion exchange reaction. The ability of PS-b-PVPP to act as a photoinitiator for both free radical and cationic polymerizations is demonstrated. In the free radical polymerization, the initiation step involves the decay of the excited state of the salt with homolytic bond rupture of...
Polyacrolein with microspherical structure obtained by radiation-initiation and base catalysis
Usanmaz, Ali; Dogan, Recep Dursun (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1990-3)
Acrolein was polymerized by radiation and base catalyzed condensation. Radiation polymerization was carried in bulk form under vacuum and air atmosphere at several temperatures. The conversion reached close to 100%, and polymers were free flowing white powders up to 5% conversion at −15°C, up to 80% at higher temperatures and up to 10% in air atmosphere polymerization. Radiation polymerization from aqueous solutions of various pH and from acetone solutions gave white powder polymers with limiting conversion...
POLYMETHYLALUMINIUM OXIDE AND STEREOREGULAR POLYMERIZATION OF PROPYLENE-OXIDE
OKTEM, Z; SARI, A; ALYURUK, K (Elsevier BV, 1993-05-01)
Polymethylaluminium oxide (PMAO) was prepared by reacting trimethylaluminium (AlMe3) with water in dilute dioxane solution. Several PMAO samples with different degrees of polymerizations (DP) were prepared (1 less-than-or-equal-to DP less-than-or-equal-to 7) either by changing reaction conditions or by fractionating the products. PMAO with DP about unity was found to be trimeric in dilute dioxane solutions but, in higher dielectric solvents, it partially dissociated into free ions. Electrical conductance me...
Dibenzophenazine and quinoxaline derivatives as novel visible photosensitizers for diaryliodonium salts
Kolay, Merve; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Bulut, Umut; Department of Chemistry (2011)
This study is focused on the use of visible light in photoinitiated cationic polymerization. Photoinitiated polymerization of oxiranes, vinyl ethers, and other vinyl monomers was achieved. In doing so, (2-(2,3 dihydrobenzo [b][1,4]dioxin-6-yl)-3-(2,3-dihydrobenzo[b]-[1,4]dioxin-7-yl)-5-(2,3-dihydrothieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin-5-yl)-8-(2,3-dihydrothieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin-7yl) quinoxaline) (DBQEd) and poly(2,3,5,8-tetra(thiophen-2-yl)quinoxaline) (TTQ), two dibenzo[a,c]phenazine derivatives; 10,13-bis(2,3-dihydro...
