The Effect of retained austenite and carbide distribution on the wear resistance of bearing steel
Özgeneci, Zeren; Ögel, Bilgehan; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2017)
This study aims to investigate the effect of the amount of retained austenite and undissolved carbides on the wear resistance of the heat treated bearing steels. As inner and outer ring material 100Cr6 steel grade was used. The specimens were austenitized in the range 800°C to 1000°C, and then, quenched to room temperature in oil to produce a hard martensitic phase. A composite microstructure of undissolved carbides, martensite and retained austenite were observed in hardened steel specimens. It was seen th...
The effect of substrate and post annealing temperature on the electrical properties of polycrystalline InSe thin films
Parlak, Mehmet (1999-06-01)
The correlation between the electrical properties of vacuum evaporated InSe thin films and the growth conditions as well as post depositional annealing has been investigated. The electrical properties of the deposited films have been studied in the temperature range of 50-320 K. The donor levels present in the InSe films have been analysed by applying the single donor-single acceptor model to the electrical data.
The effect of substrate and post-annealing temperature on the structural and optical properties of polycrystalline InSe thin films
Parlak, Mehmet (Elsevier BV, 1998-06-08)
X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, compositional analysis and transmission measurements are performed on InSe thin films grown by thermal evaporation at different substrate and annealing temperatures of 150-250 degrees C and 100-200 degrees C, respectively. An analysis of structural measurements indicates that there exist three phases of In-Se system like InSe, In2Se3 and In6Se7 in the same film at low-substrate temperature, but at high-substrate temperatures, In2Se3 phase was absent. The comp...
The effect of hot-deformation on mechanical properties and age hardening characteristics of Al-Mg-Si based wought aluminum alloys
Tan, Evren; Ögel, Bilgehan; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2006)
Microstructural and mechanical characterizations of heat treatable Al-Mg-Si-Cu based wrought aluminum alloys have been studied. The aim of this work was to produce fine grained, high strength alloy by adjusting processing conditions: deformation, solutionizing and aging. First, primary characterization was carried out via SEM-EDS analyses and tensile tests. Then an extensive experimental study has been carried out on two sets of samples. The first set has been studied to determine the ideal conditions for s...
The effect of SN content and isothermal transformation temperature on the mechanical properties of austempered ductile cast iron
Özcan, Alper; Atala, Haluk; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2003)
In this study the effects of Sn content and isothermal transformation temperature on the ultimate tensile strength (UTS), elongation and hardness of austempered ductile cast iron (ADI) was investigated. To determine the possible effect of Sn on these properties the Sn content of standard GGG30, GGG40 and GGG50 materials were taken as reference, whose chemical compositions vary from 0,016 to 0,050% in terms of Sn. However the Sn content was increased to a maximum of 0,26% for investigating the effect of Sn o...
