ANKOS with Hilmi Celik

2016-01-01
Commencing in the 1950s, when librarianship in Turkey began to be treated as a profession, cooperation was discussed on a variety of planes without ever seeming to materialize. Then, with the establishment of ANKOS in the early years of the 21st Century, an important step was taken that served as an example of working together. Collaboration between libraries not only improved the quality of their services but also achieved significant savings in terms of manpower and finances. Through this article describing his contributions to the founding and development of ANKOS, we pay our respects once again to our dear colleague Hilmi Celik, who has been lost to us at an age when he still had much to offer to the profession.
