Time varying control of magnetohydrodynamic duct flow
Evcin, Cansu; Uğur, Ömür; Tezer, Münevver (2021-09-01)
Optimal control of the unsteady, laminar, fully developed flow of a viscous, incompressible and electrically conducting fluid is considered under the effect of a time varying magnetic field B0(t) applied in the direction making an angle with the y–axis. Thus, the coefficients of convection terms in the Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations are also time-dependent. The coupled time-dependent MHD equations are solved by using the mixed finite element method (FEM) in space and the implicit Euler scheme in time....

Time resolved Fabry-Perot measurements of cavity temperature in pulsed QCLs
Gundogdu, S.; Pisheh, H. S.; Demir, A.; Gunoven, M.; Aydinli, A.; Sirtori, C. (The Optical Society, 2018-3-5)
Temperature rise during operation is a central concern of semiconductor lasers and especially difficult to measure during a pulsed operation. We present a technique for in situ time-resolved temperature measurement of quantum cascade lasers operating in a pulsed mode at similar to 9.25 mu m emission wavelength. Using a step-scan approach with 5 ns resolution, we measure the temporal evolution of the spectral density, observing longitudinal Fabry-Perot modes that correspond to different transverse modes. Con...
Time weighted average concentration monitoring of compounds with wide range of physicochemical properties in aquatic environment using thin film solid phase microextraction
Boyacı, Ezel; Ahmadi, Fardin; Pawliszyn, Janusz (null; 2017-03-05)
This study offers an integrated approach for time weighted average (TWA) concentration determination of analytes with a wide range of physical-chemical properties. Two types of thin film solid phase microextraction (TF-SPME) passive sampler, namely a retracted TF-SPME device using a hydrophilic lipophilic balance (HLB) sorbent and an open bed configuration TF-SPME device with octadecyl silica-based (C18) sorbent were developed and used for monitoring TWA concentrations of selected UV blockers and biocides. ...
