Photometric and spectral analysis of the optical companion to sax j2103.5+4545
Özbilgen, Sinem; Kızıloğlu, Ümit; Department of Physics (2008)
In this study spectral and photometric data of the SAX J2103.5+4545 Be/X-ray system are given. The spectral data were taken from June 2007 to September 2008 with the 1.5 m Russian-Turkish telescope, whereas the photometric data were obtained using ROTSE-IIId archive from June 2004 to November 2008. The photometric data up to April 2007 shows that the system was in quiescence in the optical region. But, in the 23rd of April 2007, the system's luminosity underwent a large increase, which is in agreement with ...
Thermal inactivation of native and crosslinked invertases
Kaplan, O; Bakir, U; Erarslan, A (1997-09-01)
Formaldehyde and three homobifunctional bisimidoesters having different lengths, dimethyl suberimidate (DMS), dimethyl adipimidate (DMA), dimethyl-3,3'-dithiobispropionimidate (DTBP), were used to crosslink invertase. Optimal concentrations for crosslinking with DMS and formaldehyde were determined as 0.3% and 0.015%, respectively. Inactivation mechanisms of the native, DMS and formaldehyde cross-linked invertases were first order during prolonged heat treatment. The maximum stabilization factors with DMS a...
Radial motion of highly conducting sphere in magnetic field
Gurcan, OD; Mirnov, VV; Ucer, D (2000-05-01)
Radial motion of a highly conducting sphere in external magnetic field is considered. It both perturbs the external magnetic field and generates an electric field. Exact analytic solution has been obtained previously for a uniformly expanding sphere. In the present paper a new exact solution is derived which is valid not only for expansion but for contraction as well. It allows us to calculate analytically the total electromagnetic energy irradiated by the sphere involved in periodical radial motion with ar...
Application of Multivariate Adaptive Regression Splines to Sheet Metal Bending Process for Springback Compensation
Dilan, Rasim Askin; Balkan, Raif Tuna; Platin, Bülent Emre (EDP Sciences; 2016-07-07)
An intelligent regression technique is applied for sheet metal bending processes to improve bending performance. This study is a part of another extensive study, automated sheet bending assistance for press brakes. Data related to material properties of sheet metal is collected in an online manner and fed to an intelligent system for determining the most accurate punch displacement without any offline iteration or calibration. The overall system aims to reduce the production time while increasing the perfor...
Conformal black hole solutions of axidilaton gravity in D dimensions
Cebeci, H; Dereli, T (2002-02-15)
Static, spherically symmetric solutions of axidilaton gravity in D dimensions are given in the Brans-Dicke frame for arbitrary values of the Brans-Dicke constant omega and an axion-dilaton coupling parameter k. The mass and the dilaton and axion charges are determined and a BPS bound is derived. There exists a one-parameter family of black hole solutions in the scale-invariant limit.
