Neural and ocular correlates of vısuospatıal problem solvıng processes
Türkmen, Gamze; Çakır, Murat Perit; Department of Cognitive Sciences (2013)
Current thesis analyzes the neural and ocular correlates of visuospatial problem solving processes by investigating three different two-dimensional problems which are constructed with regard to different problem features and problem spaces. Recent studies focused on visuospatial problem solving processes suggest that eye tracking and functional near-infrared spectroscopy methodologies can provide better understanding of fixation patterns and working memory demands respectively. Experimental protocol includi...
Cord dorsum potentials evoked by peripheral nerve stimulation in the rat.

CEREBRAL BLOOD FLOW EVALUATION DURING THE HYPNOTIC STATE WITH TRANSCRANIAL DOPPLER SONOGRAPHY
Uslu, Turan; Ilhan, Atilla; Ozcan, Osman; Turkoglu, Dilek; Ersoy, Alevtina; Celik, Emine (2012-01-01)
Cerebral blood flow was measured in normal waking (alert relaxed mental imagery) and hypnotic states. Mean flow velocity (Vm) in the middle cerebral artery (MCA) was significantly increased in hypnosis (Condition 11) from Condition I (5 minutes before hypnotic induction). Vm decreased in Condition III (hypnotic imagination). After hypnosis, Vm values returned to baseline. Pulsatility index values and resistive index values showed significant variations during sonographic monitoring between Conditions I and ...
Peripheral nerve conduits: Technology update
Hasırcı, Nesrin; Arslantunalı Şahin, Damla; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat (2014-12-01)
Peripheral nerve injury is a worldwide clinical problem which could lead to loss of neuronal communication along sensory and motor nerves between the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral organs and impairs the quality of life of a patient. The primary requirement for the treatment of complete lesions is a tension-free, end-to-end repair. When end-to-end repair is not possible, peripheral nerve grafts or nerve conduits are used. The limited availability of autografts, and drawbacks of the allograf...
Temporal segmentation and recognition of team activities in sports
Direkoglu, Cem; O'Connor, Noel E. (2018-07-01)
A method for temporal segmentation and recognition of team activities in sports, based on a new activity feature extraction, is presented. Given the positions of team players from a plan view of the playground at any given time, we generate a smooth distribution on the whole playground, termed the position distribution of the team. Computing the position distribution for each frame provides a sequence of distributions, which we process to extract motion features for activity recognition. We can classify six...
