Urease-based ISFET biosensor for arginine determination
Sheliakina, M.; Arkhypova, V.; Soldatkin, O.; Saiapina, O.; Akata Kurç, Burcu; Dzyadevych, S. (2014-04-01)
In this work a novel biosensor for arginine determination based on the urease inhibition effect has been proposed. Ion-selective field effect transistors were used as transducers. Urease immobilized in glutaraldehyde vapor served as a biorecognition element of the biosensor. Significant part of the work was aimed at proving the urease inhibition by arginine. Optimal concentration of urea for arginine determination was chosen. Detection limit for arginine was 0.05 mM. The biosensor selectivity towards differ...

Creatinine Deiminase Adsorption onto Silicalite-Modified pH-FET for Creation of New Creatinine-Sensitive Biosensor
Marchenko, Svitlana V.; Soldatkin, Oleksandr O.; Kasap, Berna Ozansoy; Akata Kurç, Burcu; Soldatkin, Alexei P.; Dzyadevych, Sergei V. (2016-03-31)
In the work, silicalite particles were used for the surface modification of pH-sensitive field-effect transistors (pH-FETs) with the purpose of developing new creatinine-sensitive biosensor. Creatinine deiminase (CD) adsorbed on the surface of silicalite-coated pH-FET served as a bioselective membrane. The biosensor based on CD immobilized in glutaraldehycie vapor (GA) was taken as control. The creatinine-sensitive biosensor obtained by adsorption on silicalite was shown to have better analytical characteri...
alpha-Tricalcium phosphate hydrolysis to hydroxyapatite at and near physiological temperature
Durucan, Caner (2000-06-01)
The kinetics of hydroxyapatite (HAp) formation by direct hydrolysis of alpha-tricalcium phosphate (alpha-TCP) [alpha-Ca-3(PO4)(2)] have been investigated. Transformation kinetics were examined for reactions at 37 degrees C, 45 degrees C and 56 degrees C by isothermal calorimetric analysis. Setting times and morphologies of the resultant HAp were found to be strongly dependent on reaction temperature. XRD analysis accompanied by FTIR confirmed that phase pure calcium-deficient hydroxyapatite (CDHAp) [Ca10-x(...
Salmonella prevalence on eggs and prevention strategy by bacteriophage
Koç, Emre; Soyer, Yeşim; Department of Food Engineering (2022-8)
Today, eggs and egg products are one of the biggest food sources in the World and Turkey is one of the biggest hen’s egg producers in the world. In Turkey, there are 4 different poultry cultivation methods which are organic egg, free-range egg, cage free egg and cage egg. Salmonella is one of the most common pathogen bacteria found in egg industry. Thus, protection of food sources from Salmonella like pathogen is very crucial for food safety requirements. In this study, Salmonella prevalence in eggs fro...
