Cyanide-bridged iron complexes as biomimetics of tri-iron arrangements in maturases of the H cluster of the di-iron hydrogenase
Lunsford, Allen M.; Beto, Christopher C.; Ding, Shengda; Erdem, Özge; Wang, Ning; Bhuvanesh, Nattamai; Hall, Michael B.; Darensbourg, Marcetta Y. (2016-01-01)
Developing from certain catalytic processes required for ancient life forms, the H-2 processing enzymes [NiFe]- and [FeFe]-hydrogenase (H(2)ase) have active sites that are organometallic in composition, possessing carbon monoxide and cyanide as ligands. Simple synthetic analogues of the 2Fe portion of the active site of [FeFe]-H(2)ase have been shown to dock into the empty carrier (maturation) protein, apo-Hyd-F, via the bridging ability of a terminal cyanide ligand from a low valent (FeFeI)-Fe-I unit to th...
Pentacarbonyl(2,6-diaminopyridine)chromium(0): synthesis and molecular structure
Morkan, Izzet Amour; Güven, Kutalmış; Özkar, Saim (Elsevier BV, 2004-7)
Photolysis of hexacarbonylchromium(0) in the presence of 2,6-diaminopyridine in toluene solution at 10 degreesC yields pentacarbonyl(2,6-diaminopyridine)chromium(0), which could be isolated from solution as plate-like crystals and fully characterized by using the single crystal X-ray diffractometry and MS, IR, H-1 and C-13 NMR spectroscopy. The complex was found to have the 2,6-diaminopyridine ligand bonded to the chromium atom through one of the NH2 groups. A single crystal X-ray structure of the complex r...
Dimethylammonium Hexanoate Stabilized Rhodium(0) Nanoclusters Identified as True Heterogeneous Catalysts with the Highest Observed Activity in the Dehydrogenation of Dimethylamine-Borane
Zahmakiran, Mehmet; Özkar, Saim (American Chemical Society (ACS), 2009-09-21)
Herein we report the discovery of a superior dimethylamine-borane dehydrogenation catalyst, more active than the prior best heterogeneous catalyst (Jaska, C. A.; Manners, I. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2004, 126, 9776) reported to date for the dehydrogenation of dimethylamine-borane. The new catalyst system consists of rhodium(0) nanoclusters stabilized by C5H11COO- anions and Me2H2N+ cations and can reproducibly be formed from the reduction of rhodium(II) hexanoate during dehydrogenation of dimethylamine-borane at r...

Peptidotriazolamers Inhibit A beta(1-42) Oligomerization and Cross a Blood-Brain-Barrier Model
Tonali, Nicolo; Hericks, Loreen; Schroeder, David C.; Kracker, Oliver; Krzemieniecki, Radoslaw; Kaffy, Julia; Le Joncour, Vadim; Laakkonen, Pirjo; Marıon, Antoıne; Ongeri, Sandrine; Dodero, Veronica I.; Sewald, Norbert (2021-05-01)
In peptidotriazolamers every second peptide bond is replaced by a 1H-1,2,3-triazole. Such foldamers are expected to bridge the gap in molecular weight between small-molecule drugs and protein-based drugs. Amyloid beta (A beta) aggregates play an important role in Alzheimer's disease. We studied the impact of amide bond replacements by 1,4-disubstituted 1H-1,2,3-triazoles on the inhibitory activity of the aggregation "hot spots" (KLVFF20)-L-16 and G(39)VVIA(42) in A beta(1-42). We found that peptidotriazolam...
