Queuosine (Q nucleoside) is a highly modified guanosine analog and is present only in the first position of the anticodons of tRNA(Tyr), tRNA(His), tRNA(Asn) and tRNA(Asp). The levels of Q in normal human brain and two different types of human brain tumors (meningiomas and astrocytomas) were determined by using an enzymatic assay method. tRNAs isolated from tumor tissues contained decreased amounts of Q when compared to tRNAs from normal (i.e. non-tumor) brain tissue. There was a relationship between the levels of Q nucleoside and the tumor malignancy in the sense that the deficiency was greater in the highly malignant astrocytomas compared to meningiomas which are usually benign tumors. Increased Q deficiency was also observed in higher grade tumors.

Analysis of circular waveguides coupled by axially uniform slots
Öztürk, Mensur; Çağlayan, Fatih; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2006)
The characteristics of slotted circular waveguides with different dimensions, including cutoff frequencies of TE and TM modes, impedance and modal field distributions will be analyzed using the generalized spectral domain approach. The Method of Moment will be applied, basis functions that include the edge conditions will be used and a computer program will be developed. Obtained results will be presented for different number, depth and thickness of coupling slots, and compared with available data to demons...
Measurement of top quark-antiquark pair production in association with a W or Z boson in pp collisions at root s=8 TeV
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2014-09-01)
A measurement of the cross section for the production of top quark–antiquark pairs (tt¯) in association with a vector boson V (W or Z) in proton-proton collisions at s√=8 TeV is presented. The results are based on a dataset corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 19.5 fb−1 recorded with the CMS detector at the LHC. The measurement is performed in three leptonic (e and μ) channels: a same-sign dilepton analysis targeting tt¯W events, and trilepton and four-lepton analyses designed for tt¯Z events. In th...
CP-violating effects in b decays beyond the standard model
Bashiry, Valı; Alıyev, Tahmasıb; Department of Physics (2005)
In this thesis, using a general model independent form of the effective Hamiltonian, the CP-violating asymmetries in the b -> d l l transition, when one of the leptons is polarized, is investigated. The sensitivity of the CP-violating asymmetries on the new Wilson coefficients are analyzed. Next, in the frame work of the same formalism, the polarized lepton pair forwardاbackward asymmetries in B->K l l decay are studied. We present the general expression for the nine doubleاpolarization forwardاbackward asy...
Exclusive B ->rho l(+)l(-) decay and polarized lepton pair forward-backward asymmetries
Alıyev, Tahmasıb; Savcı, Mustafa (American Physical Society (APS), 2006-02-01)
The polarized lepton pair forward-backward asymmetries in B ->rho l(+)l(-) decay using a general, model independent form of the four-Fermi interaction is studied. The general expressions for nine double-lepton polarization forward-backward asymmetries are calculated. The study of the forward-backward asymmetries of the doubly polarized lepton pair proves to be a very useful tool in looking for new physics beyond the standard model.
Q-Adaptation of SVD-aided UKF Algorithm for Nanosatellite Attitude Estimation
Hacızade, Cengiz; Söken, Halil Ersin; Guler, Demet Cilden (2017-01-01)
In this study, we propose process noise covariance matrix adaptation (Q-adaptation) for the Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) aided Unscented Kalman Filter (UKF) algorithm. The main aim is to make the algorithm adaptive against the changes in the process noise covariance. The SVD-aided Adaptive UKF (SaAUKF) estimates the attitude and attitude rate of a nano satellite. We implement the SVD method in the algorithm's first phase using magnetometer and sun sensor measurements. It estimates the attitude of the ...
