Comparative Transcriptome Analyses of a Standard Strain and Clavulanic Acid Overproducing Industrial Strain of S. clavuligerus
Çelik, Gözde; Özcengiz, Gülay; Son, Çağdaş Devrim; Department of Biotechnology (2021-9)
Streptomyces clavuligerus is the producer of the medically important β-lactam antibiotics, including cephamycin C (CC) and potent β-lactamase inhibitor clavulanic acid (CA). In this study, comparative transcriptome analysis between an industrial stain, namely DEPA (CA overproducer strain which was developed by several rounds of classical random mutagenesis), and a reference strain NRLL3585 was performed by using the genome-wide RNA-seq technique. Our aim was to understand and improve the knowledge about the...
Comparative biological network analysis for differentially expressed proteins as a function of bacilysin biosynthesis in Bacillus subtilis

For permissions, please e-mail: journals.permission@oup.com.The Gram-positive bacterium Bacillus subtilis produces a diverse range of secondary metabolites with different structures and activities. Among them, bacilysin is an enzymatically synthesized dipeptide that consists of L-alanine and L-anticapsin. Previous research by our group has suggested bacilysin's role as a pleiotropic molecule in its producer, B. subtilis PY79. H...

Comparative sequence analysis of the internal transcribed spacer 2 region of Turkish red pine (pinus brutia ten.) and natural aleppo pine (pinus halepensis mill.) populations from Turkey
Tozkar, C. Özge; Kaya, Zeki; Department of Biology (2007)
Turkish red pine (Pinus brutia) is wide-spread and an important forest tree species in Turkey, occurring mainly in southern, western and north-western Turkey and as small isolated populations in the Black Sea region. Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis) has naturally found only in Adana and Muğla provinces as small population in mixture with Turkish red pine. Although Turkish red pine and Aleppo pine are morphologically different, Turkish red pine has been regarded as subspecies of Aleppo pine by some taxonomists...
Comparative photodecolorization of red dye by anatase, rutile (TiO2), and wurtzite (ZnO) using response surface methodology
Khameneh, Shahab; Sadrnezhaad, Sayad Khatib; Rad, Mansour Keyanpour; Üner, Deniz (2012-01-01)
Treatment of dye pollution containing C.I. Acid Red 14 (AR14) by a coupled photocatalytic process was studied. Titanium dioxide, in the form of anatase and rutile, and zinc oxide, were used as photocatalysts. The investigated photocatalysts were Aldrich-produced nanopowders with crystallites of a mean size 20-30 nm and a specific surface area of about 50 m(2)/g. A comparison of TiO2(anatase), TiO2(rutile), TiO2(a,r), and ZnO for the decolorization of the AR14 solution was performed. Results showed that colo...
