Low order PWM inverter harmonics contributions to the inverter-fed induction machine fault diagnosis
Akin, Bilal; Orguner, Umut; Toliyat, Hamid A.; Rayner, Mark (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2008-02-01)
In this paper, the effects of inverter harmonies on motor current fault signatures are studied in detail. It is theoretically and experimentally shown that the fault signatures caused by the inverter harmonies are similar and comparable to those generated by the fundamental harmonic on the line current. Theoretically-derived extended relations including bearing fault, eccentricity, and broken rotor bar relations are found to match experimental results. Furthermore, it is observed and reported that the asymm...

Reduced Order Modeling of Bolted Joints in Frequency Domain
Karapıstık, Gökhan; Ciğeroğlu, Ender (2019-01-31)
Most of the structural systems assembled by using bolted joints. Therefore, bolted joint models have a critical importance to estimate the behavior of the overall assembled system. There are several linear bolted joint models which consist of spring and dashpot elements in literature. While they can estimate the resonant frequency of the overall system with a sufficient accuracy, linear bolted joint models are inadequate for approximating the damping which arises from the friction in the contact interface o...
Reduced order modeling of helicopter substructures for dynamic analysis
Hayırlı, Uğur; Kayran, Altan; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2018)
Dynamic analysis of a structure is generally conducted by the finite element method in aerospace structures. The models usually contain large number of elements to be able to obtain more accurate results. Although the most computers are capable of solving the large and complex problems, the analysis problems such as dynamic optimization, aeroelastic, frequency and time response may take long time due to involving iterative and multi-step processes. In this study, various model reduction methods are describe...
