INFLUENCE OF DCAP PROCESS ON THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF 6061 Al-ALLOY SHEET

2010-08-01
Materials with ultrafine-grained (UFG) structures can be produced by imparting high plastic strains. For bulk UFG material production, several processing techniques like ECAP have been developed and successfully applied. The handicap of ECAP system is its inconvenience for continuous deformation of aluminum alloy sheets which are widely used as structural components. Dissimilar channel angular pressing (DCAP) is one of the promising techniques used for continuous sheet or strip deformation. In this process, the workpiece is fed into the die by using a feeding roll. The forming die is composed of two intersecting channels, whose thicknesses are different from each other in a way that the thickness of the inlet channel is slightly smaller than that of the outlet channel.

Influence of pH on morphology, size and polymorph of room temperature synthesized calcium carbonate particles
Oral, Cagatay M.; Ercan, Batur (2018-11-01)
Calcium carbonate (CaCO3) particles have been used in various applications, including medicine, drug delivery and orthopedics. Having three different polymorphs and exhibiting complex crystallization behavior, it is a challenging task to systematically control physical properties of CaCO3 particles for desired applications. Herein, the influence of pH and [Ca2+]:[CO32-] ratio on the morphology, size and polymorph of room temperature synthesized CaCO3 particles were investigated. Although, in literature, eth...
EFFECTS OF SPATIAL VARIABILITY OF MARGINAL FILLS ON EXTERNAL STABILITY OF REINFORCED SLOPES
Durmaz, Muhammet; Huvaj Sarıhan, Nejan; Turgut, Atalay Mert; Öztürk, Nur (null; 2019-11-15)
Geosynthetic reinforced soil walls and slopes are typically designed using clean granular fills. In recent years, granular soils containing some percentages of fines content (marginal fills) are being used, e.g. 35% fines content is allowed in the granular fill by NCMA (2006), provided that sufficient drainage measures are taken. Designing with granular soils that can have variable proportions of fines content, leads to the consideration of variability of soil properties such as shear strength and unit weig...
Impact of Fiber Weaves on 56 Gbps SerDes Interface in Glass Epoxy Packages
Durgun, Ahmet Cemal (2015-01-01)
Some package substrates are composed of glass fiber bundles and epoxy resin which have different electrical properties. These differences result in variations in characteristic impedance and propagation speeds, which may be detrimental at high data rates. The insertion loss (IL), within pair skew and differential to common mode conversion ratio of transmission lines may drastically increase due to the fiber weave effect. Consequently, the link budget of high speed communication channels may be significantly...
Effect of Different Homogenization Techniques on the Particle Size of Liposomes and Storage Characterization by NMR Relaxometry
Güner, Selen; Öztop, Halil Mecit (null; 2015-08-12)
Liposomes are double-layered spherical vesicles made up of polar lipids and could be used in pharmaceutical, personal care, chemical and food industries to encapsulate both hydrophobic and hydrophilic compounds. Being biodegradable, biocompatible not having any toxic effects and having the ability to release the active agents when desired make these systems advantageous for many applications. The main natural sources used for liposomes are egg and soy. In this study, egg and soy lecithin with higher purity ...
Influence of ground perlite on the hydration and strength development of calcium aluminate cement mortars
Şengül, Kemal; Erdoğan, Sinan Turhan (Elsevier BV, 2021-01-10)
© 2020 Elsevier LtdCalcium aluminate cement (CAC) concretes are desirable owing to their rapid strength development and resistance to high temperatures, sulfates and acids. They suffer two drawbacks, however, high cost and strength loss due to conversion of water-rich hydration products to more stable structures, resulting in a drop in strength. Although its rate is dependent on temperature and moisture, the conversion process is thermodynamically inevitable but can be prevented by adding sufficient quantit...
