Effect of a heated solid body on mixed convection flow in an open cavity
Bozkaya, Canan (null; 2015-07-13)
The mixed convection flow and heat transfer characteristics inside a square ventilated cavity with a heat-generating solid circular body located at the center have been investigated numerically. The inlet opening is at the bottom of the left wall, while the outlet one is at the top of the right wall, and all the walls of the cavity are considered to be adiabatic. A Galerkin weighted residual finite element method is used to solve the governing equations of mass, momentum, and energy. The behavior of the flu...
Effect of Oil Feed Groove on Compressor Piston Lubrication
Hacıoğlu, Bilgin; Dursunkaya, Zafer (2008-07-14)
Oil feed grooves are implemented in reciprocating compressor piston applications to assure a constant supply of lubricating oil on bearing surfaces and decrease friction loss. In a hermetically sealed compressor, due to small clearances encountered, oil supply becomes critical in order to prevent the boundary lubrication. Due to the small size of the piston and small piston–cylinder clearance, a partial lubrication regime is present. In the current study, a model that solves Reynolds’ equation for piston-cy...
Effect of five woven fiber reinforcements on the impact and transverse strength of a denture base resin
Uzun, G; Hersek, N; Tincer, T (Elsevier BV, 1999-05-01)
Statement of problem. Fracture strength of denture base resins is of great concern, and many approaches have been used to strengthen acrylic resin dentures.

Effect of differential lubrication on the cup drawing of mild steel blanks
Atala, H. (Elsevier BV, 1990-7)
Cup-drawing test have been performed on mild steel blanks to study the frictional behaviour of the flanges in a cup-drawing operation, by utilizing differential lubrication. Molybdenum disulphide paste has been chosen as the lubricant because of its good performance in preliminary trials. The results suggest that lubrication of the flange is essential in the achievement of a fully drawn cup without failure and without wrinkles. It can also be stated that lubricant application to central regions appears to b...
