The coupling of a variety of transition metal-carbene complexes with alkynols has been studied. In many cases, the intermediate vinylcarbene complexes formed in this reaction undergo a ring expansion to afford cyclic ketone derivatives. This scope and limit of this process is explored.

Synthesis of mfı type zeolite membranes in a continuous system
Çulfaz, Pınar Zeynep; Kalıpçılar, Halil; Department of Chemical Engineering (2005)
MFI type zeolites, are the most widely studied zeolites for membrane separations. Conventionally, zeolite membranes are prepared in batch systems by hydrothermal synthesis in autoclaves. This method has several disadvantages for use in industrial scale for the synthesis of membranes with large areas and complex geometries that are commonly used in membrane modules. The objective of this study is to prepare MFI type zeolite membranes on tubular alumina supports in a continuous system where the synthesis solu...
Substituent effect on the aromaticity of 1,3-azole systems
Gümüş, Selçuk; Türker, Burhan Lemi (Walter de Gruyter GmbH, 2012-02-01)
The effects of substituent type and position on the aromaticity of certain derivatives of oxazole, imidazole and thiazole have been theoretically investigated by using density functional theory at the levels of B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) and B3LYP/6-31++G(d,p) methods. The second heteroatom substitution decreases aromaticity of furan, pyrrole and thiophene. The decreased aromaticity is gained back to some extent by the substitution of strong electron withdrawing groups or atoms (NO2 and F). Nucleus-independent chemic...
Preparation of seven-membered rings by the reaction of cyclopropylcarbene-tungsten and molybdenum complexes with alkynes
Herndon, James W.; Zora, Metin; Patel, Paren P.; CHATTERJEE, Gautam; Matasi, Julius J.; Tumer, Seniz U. (1993-01-01)
The reaction between alkynes and cyclopropylcarbene-tungsten and molybdenum complexes has been examined. Depending upon the conditions of the reaction, either cycloheptadienones or furanones are obtained. The scope, limitation, and mechanistic rationale for observed selectivities are discussed.
Deactivation model for textural effects on kinetics of gas-solid noncatalytic reactions ''char gasification with CO2''
Yasyerli, N; Doğu, Timur; Dogu, G; Ar, I (1996-06-01)
Variation of the reactivity of a solid reactant due to changes in number of working active sites and pore structure was represented by a deactivation model. The model was shown to give good aggreement with the experimental data obtained for the gasification of chars of different lignites. All the kinetic data obtained at different temperatures (800 degrees-950 degrees C) and also for different types of coals were represented with a single generalized relation. The increase of the surface area of the char at...
Synthesis and characterization of poly(dibromophenylene oxide)s through thermal decomposition of various transition metal complexes in solid state.
Şanlı, Pınar; Kısakürek, Duygu; Aras, Leyla; Department of Chemistry (2002)
In this study, synthesis and characterization of poly(dibromophenylene oxide)s though thermal decomposition of bis(2,4,6-tribromophenolato)di(N- methyl imidazole) Cu(II), bis(2,4,6-tribromophenolato)di(N-methyl illimidazole)Co(II) and bis(2,4,6-tribromophenolato)di(N-methyl imidazole)Ni(II) complexes in solid state was examined. For the characterization of complexes FTIR, DSC, mass spectroscopy, magnetic susceptibility and C, H,N elemental analysis were performed. Syntheses of the polymer were achieved by t...
