Observer based condition monitoring of an electrohydraulic actuation system
Poyraz, Emre Mura; Turgut, Ali Emre; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2019)
In this thesis study, jamming fault in an electrohydraulic actuation system which may be quite critical for aerospace applications are detected using model-based approaches. A hydraulic test setup consisting of a connected motor controlled electro hydrostatic actuation (EHA) system and a servo Proportional valve controlled load simulator system is used for the verification of the proposed fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) algorithm. Based on the system dynamics of the equipment in the test bench, mathemat...
Attitude estimation for nanosatellites ssing Singular value decomposition and unscented kalman filter
Söken, Halil Ersin; Çilden Güler, Demet (null; 2015-07-10)
The singular value decomposition (SVD), one of the single frame attitude estimation methods, is used together with the unscented Kalman filter (UKF) for nanosatellite attitude estimation. The proposed interlaced algorithm estimates the attitude and gyro biases using three attitude sensors onboard, which are magnetometers, sun sensors and gyroscopes. The algorithm uses the SVD method at first to estimate the optimal attitude by minimizing the Wahba's loss function. In the second phase, the UKF takes this inf...
Attitude filtering for nanosatellites: A comparison of different approaches under model uncertainties
Esit, Mehmet; Yakupoglu, Sirin; Söken, Halil Ersin (2021-01-01)
Nanosatellites have become an integral part of space research in recent years, especially for universities and non-profit organizations. Attitude estimation is a key function that is playing a leading role in the success of their missions. Despite various research and several implemented algorithms, it is difficult to find comprehensive analyses on the attitude filtering algorithms used for nanosatellite attitude estimation. This article, first of all, presents different attitude filtering approaches that c...
Parameter optimization of steel fiber reinforced high strength concrete by statistical design and analysis of experiments
Ayan, Elif; Saatçioğlu, Ömer; Department of Industrial Engineering (2004)
This thesis illustrates parameter optimization of compressive strength, flexural strength and impact resistance of steel fiber reinforced high strength concrete (SFRHSC) by statistical design and analysis of experiments. Among several factors affecting the compressive strength, flexural strength and impact resistance of SFRHSC, five parameters that maximize all of the responses have been chosen as the most important ones as age of testing, binder type, binder amount, curing type and steel fiber volume fract...
Evaluation study on the instrumentation system of cindere dam
Yanmaz, Ali Melih (American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), 2009-11-26)
The first hardfill dam in Turkey, Cindere Dam, has recently been constructed and a number of instruments have been installed. The aim of this study is to review the capability of the current instrumentation system and to observe the feasibility of possible alternative measurement systems. To this end, the current instrumentation system has been evaluated as a whole with reference to the parameters measured, instruments, and data acquisition system. Afterward, an alternative instrumentation system was develo...
