Designing (with) complexity: improving adaptive capacity of urban form by design
Tümtürk, Onur; Çalışkan, Olgu; Urban Design in City and Regional Planning Department (2018)
In the last century, as parallel to the transitions and paradigmatic shifts in the history of science, urbanism has experienced important theoretical breakthroughs and transitions, as well. At that point, emerging paradigm of complexity theories has come into the contemporary agenda of urban planning and design agenda by representing a dramatic shift from the conception of cities as totally controllable and designed artefacts. In that sense, the complexity-based perspective in urbanism asserts that the sett...
Exclusive Lambda(b)->Lambda l(+)l(-) decay in a two-Higgs-doublet model
Alıyev, Tahmasıb; Savcı, Mustafa (IOP Publishing, 2000-07-01)
Rare Lambda(b) --> Lambda l(+)l(-) decay is investigated within a framework of a general two-Higgs-doublet model, in which a new sourer of CP violation exists (model III). The polarization parameter, CP asymmetry and decay width are calculated. It is shown that CP asymmetry is a sensitive tool for establishing model III.

Investigating 8(th) Grade Students' Perceptions of Constructivist Science Learning Environment
Ozkal, Kudret; Öztekin, Ceren; Çakıroğlu, Jale (2009-07-01)
The present study investigated 8(th) grade students' perceptions of actual and preferred constructivist science learning environments. Data were collected from 1152 students attending public elementary schools in Ankara using the Constructivist Learning Environment survey (CLES). The CLES consists of two forms which are "Actual" and "Preferred". While actual form assesses the current learning environment of the classroom and the preferred form assesses the students' preferences about the learning environmen...
