NONLINEAR VIBRATION OF ROTOR-BEARING SYSTEM WITH SQUEEZE FILM DAMPING
Sevencan, Furkan; Ciğeroğlu, Ender; Baran, Özgür Uğraş; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2022-8-31)
Squeeze film damper is a widely used nonlinear element in rotor-bearing systems. The dynamic behavior of the rotor-bearing system supported by the squeeze film damper must be investigated for proper design and analysis. Nonlinear vibration response of rotor systems supported by squeeze film damper due to unbalance is investigated. The system rotordynamic model is developed using 1D Timoshenko beam elements. Three types of modeling are performed for SFD. The nonlinear SFD models are based on the analytical s...

Partial Discharges Pattern Recognition of Transformer Defect Model by LBP & HOG Features
Anşin, Berfin; Phung, B. Toan; Blackburn, Trevor R. (2019-04-01)
Partial discharge (PD) measurement and identification have great importance to condition monitoring of power transformers. In this paper, a new method for recognition of single and multi-source of PD based on extraction of high level image features has been introduced. A database, involving 365 samples of phase-resolved PD (PRPD) data, is developed by measurement carried out on transformer artificial defect models (having different sizes of defect) under a specific applied voltage, to be used for proposed a...
Forced Oscillation of Second-Order Impulsive Differential Equations with Mixed Nonlinearities
ÖZBEKLER, ABDULLAH; Zafer, Ağacık (2011-07-08)
In this paper we give new oscillation criteria for a class of second-order mixed nonlinear impulsive differential equations having fixed moments of impulse actions. The method is based on the existence of a nonprincipal solution of a related second-order linear homogeneous equation.
AXIAL DISPERSION OF LIQUID IN MOBILE-BED CONTACTING
Uysal, B.Z; Özilgen, M. (Informa UK Limited, 1989-7)
Axial dispersion of liquid in Mobile-Bed Contacting (MBC) was investigated employing transient-response technique with impulse input of NaCI tracer. Experiments were performed in a 0.195 m ID column. Three different packing diameters (15, 19.5 and 32 mm) and three different static bed heights (0.1, 0.195 and 0.3 m) were used. Gas flow rate was varied between 3.02 and 4.05 kg/m2/s and liquid flow rate from 2.4 to 10.4 kg/m2/s. Transfer function analysis of data yielded that Peclet number was practically ind...
