Free flexural (or bending) vibration analysis of certain of stiffened composite plates or panels in flight vehicle structures
Javanshir Habestan, Jaber; Yüceoğlu, Umur; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2010)
In this study, the “Free Flexural (or Bending) Vibrations of Stiffened Plates or Panels” are investigated in detail. Two different Groups of “Stiffened Plates” will be considered. In the first group, the “Type 4” and the “Type 6” of “Group I” of the “Integrally-Stiffened and/or Stepped-Thickness Plate or Panel Systems” are theoretically analyzed and numerically solved by making use of the “Mindlin Plate Theory”. Here, the natural frequencies and the corresponding mode shapes, up to the sixth mode, are obtai...
Near-surface topology and flow structure on a delta wing
Yavuz, Mehmet Metin; Rockwell, D (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), 2004-02-01)
The streamlines, and the corresponding patterns of velocity and vorticity, are characterized on a plane immediately adjacent to the surface of a delta wing using a laser-based technique of high-image-density particle image velocimetry. This technique provides the sequence of instantaneous states, as well as the corresponding time-averaged state, of the near-surface streamline topology and the associated critical points. These topological features are interpreted in terms of patterns of averaged and unsteady...
Panel-Method-Based Path Planning and Collaborative Target Tracking for Swarming Micro Air Vehicles
Uzol, Oğuz; Yavrucuk, İlkay (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), 2010-03-01)
This paper presents an application of the potential field panel method commonly used in aerodynamics analysis to obtain streamlinelike trajectories and use them for path planning and collaborative target tracking for swarming micro air vehicles in an urban environment filled with complex shaped buildings and other architectural structures. In addition, we introduce a performance matching technique that relates the flu id velocities, which are obtained as a part of the panel method solution, to vehicle veloc...
Free vibrations of bonded single lap joints in composite, shallow cylindrical shell panels
Yuceoglu, U; Ozerciyes, V (American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), 2005-12-01)
The problem of free vibrations of bonded single lap joints in composite, shallow circular cylindrical shells or shell panels is investigated. The shallow circular cylindrical shell adherends are considered to be made of dissimilar, orthotropic materials adhesively bonded by an in-between, very thin, yet flexible adhesive layer. In the theoretical formulation, a first-order shear deformation shell theory is employed. The complete set of shallow shell equations, in combination with the adhesive-layer equation...
Implicit large eddy simulation of vitiation effects in supersonic air/H-2 combustion
Karaca, Mehmet; Zhao, Song; Fedioun, Ivan; Lardjane, Nicolas (Elsevier BV, 2019-06-01)
This paper presents and discusses Implicit Large Eddy Simulation (ILES) results of vitiation effects in ground tests of supersonic air/H-2 combustion. This work is useful for realistic extrapolation of ground test data to flight conditions. The high-enthalpy flow configuration retained, typical of scramjet engines, is the Mach 2 LAERTE combustion chamber of the French aerospace lab ONERA. The supersonic air co-flow is preheated by burning a small amount of hydrogen in oxygen-enriched air. Stable numerical s...
