A roadmap for interoperability of eHealth systems in support of COM 356 with special emphasis on semantic interoperability (RIDE)

Doğaç , Asuman
RIDE is a roadmap project for interoperability of eHealth systems leading to recommendations for actions and to preparatory actions at the European level. This roadmap will prepare the ground for future actions as envisioned in the action plan of the eHealth Communication COM 356 by coordinating various efforts on eHealth interoperability in member states and the associated states. Since it is not realistic to expect to have a single universally accepted clinical data model that will be adhered to all over the Europe and that the clinical practice, terminology systems and EHR systems are all a long way from such a complete harmonization; the RIDE project will address the interoperability of eHealth systems with special emphasis on semantic interoperability. In order to create RIDE Roadmap, first the European best practices in providing semantic interoperability for eHealth domain will be assessed and the quantified requirements to create a valid roadmap will be identified. Based on these requirements, the goals, and the economical, legal, financial and technological challenges of the industry for the 21st century for achieving interoperability in eHealth solutions will be elaborated. RIDE will also focus on the limitations of the policies and strategies currently used in deploying interoperable eHealth solutions. A research portal for sharing resources addressing semantic interoperability in eHealth domain will be created and maintained; the key actors and stakeholders will be coordinated around RIDE special interest groups to create a wide consensus at the European level. Through eight RIDE workshops a shared vision for building a Europe-wide semantically interoperable eHealth infrastructure will be created.

A performance study on real-time IP multicasting
Demirci, T; Bilgen, Semih (2003-07-03)
In this paper we investigate the performance of Internet Group Management Protocol version 3 (IGMPv3) and Real Time Transport Protocol (RTP) for various scenarios. For this purpose, a network simulator is developed using C++. As it is important to evaluate protocol performances under realistic conditions, the simulation models and network traffic models that are used in the simulations are developed to reflect real life behavior. The simulation models are verified and the performance results obtained are co...
An Approach to Determine Exchange Information Requirements(EIR) for Metro Projects in Turkey
Doğu, Defne; Kaş, Serhat; Akçamete Güngör, Aslı (2020-11-14)
The paper represents a framework that can be followed while adopting Exchange Information Requirements for metro projects in Turkey. In contrast to the universal trend of implementing Building Information Model initially to superstructure projects, Turkey brought an obligation of BIM use for the first time in a metro project. Since 2014, metro projects tendered in Turkey, primarily in İstanbul, are BIM-mandated public projects. However, Employers have not yet developed organization-wide holistic standards t...
A National IT Strategy for Turkish Construction Industry
Kumaş, Nihan; Nielsen, Yasemin; Department of Civil Engineering (2004)
In this thesis, a national information technology (IT) strategy applicable to Turkish construction industry for future implementation of IT is developed, advising guidance to current and future stakeholders but also researchers and decision makers to set the right priorities and pre-harmonization for IT in construction. Within this study, the present situation of the industry is discussed, so as to structure today̕s required industry abilities fulfilling tomorrow̕s demands and innovative IT solutions. Then,...
A method for decentralized business process modeling
Türetken, Oktay; Demirörs, Onur; Department of Information Systems (2007)
This thesis study proposes a method for organizations to perform business process modeling in a decentralized and concurrent manner. The Plural method is based on the idea that organizations’ processes can be modeled by individuals actually performing the processes. Instead of having a central and devoted group of people to understand, analyze, model and improve processes, individuals are held responsible to model and improve their own processes concurrently. These individual models are then integrated to f...
A study on enterprise resource planning systems and embedding them into the company processes
Gencel, Orhan; Şen, Tayyar; Department of Information Systems (2003)
In this thesis, implementations of Enterprise Resource Planning Systems are studied with a broader view. Pre-implementation preparations and post-implementation developments play key roles in the success of the ERP utilization of the companies. To find out how the success can be achieved, various concepts in ERP implementation are analyzed. Using analogies with the basic software development models, common application methodologies are studied. The study is completed with the analysis of an interesting and ...
