Semiempirical molecular orbital calculations at the level of AM1-RHF were carried out on octahalotetraphenylporphyrins having Zn as the central ion. All the structures considered were found to be stable but endothermic. They all possess the dipole moment which is smallest for the octafluoro but highest for the octaiodo derivative. The polarizabilities follow the same trend. Calculations suggest that these systems should have anisotropic polarizabilities and thus some nonlinear properties should exist.

A bucky onion from C-20 and C-60 - an AM1 treatment
Türker, Burhan Lemi (2001-07-09)
A bucky onion-like composite system of C-20 in C-60 Structure was subjected to semiempirical quantum chemical treatment at the level of AMI-REF type calculations. The composite system was found to be a highly endothermic but stable structure. Strong 'through-space' type interaction between C-20 and C-60 shells should exist resulting a dipole moment originating from C-60 shell to C-20 shell. Thus, the composite system should have anisotropic polarizability. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science BN. All rights reserved.
AM1 treatment of Huckel type cyclacenes
Türker, Burhan Lemi (1997-05-30)
Semiempirical molecular orbital calculations at the level of AM1 type were carried out on Huckel type cyclacenes having arenoid rings (R) of 2-10. It has been found that the cryptoannulenic effect highly influences the molecular orbital characteristics of these systems. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
Nanohardness measurements of heavy ion irradiated coarse- and nanocrystalline-grained tungsten at room and high temperature
El-Atwani, O.; Weaver, J. S.; Esquivel, E.; Efe, Mert; Chancey, M. R.; Wang, Y. Q.; Maloy, S. A.; Mara, N. (Elsevier BV, 2018-10-01)
Heavy ion irradiation was performed on coarse and nanocrystalline-grained tungsten (CGW and NGW, respectively) at room temperature (RT) and 1050 K from 0.25 to 4 dpa to simulate radiation damage for fusion energy applications. TEM and nanohardness measurements of irradiated samples were made to quantify the radiation tolerance of these two candidate materials. In this case, TEM is used to quantify the defect morphology at low dpa values and determine the barrier strength coefficients of the different defect...
Structural and electronic properties of PFOS and LiPFOS
Erkoç, Şakir; Erkoc, F (2001-08-13)
The structural and electronic properties of perfluorinated surfactants perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) and lithium perfluorooctane sulfonate (LiPFOS) have been investigated theoretically by performing semi-empirical molecular orbital theory at the level of AM I calculations. The optimized structure and the electronic properties of the molecules are obtained. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science BN. All rights reserved.
Structural and electronic properties of perchlorocoronene
Erkoç, Şakir; Erkoc, F; Turker, L (2001-01-15)
The structural and electronic properties of perchlorocoronene (C24Cl12) have been investigated theoretically by using semiempirical molecular orbital theory at the level of AM1 calculations. The optimized structure and the electronic structure of the molecule are obtained.
