Measurement of differential top-quark-pair production cross sections in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2013-03-01)
Normalised differential top-quark-pair production cross sections are measured in pp collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV at the LHC with the CMS detector using data recorded in 2011 corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.0 fb(-1). The measurements are performed in the lepton + jets decay channels (e + jets and mu + jets) and the dilepton decay channels (e(+)e(-), mu(+)mu(-), and mu(+/-)e(-/+)). The t (t) over bar differential cross section is measured as a function of kinematic properties ...
Measurement of diffractive dissociation cross sections in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (2015-07-01)
Measurements of diffractive dissociation cross sections in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV are presented in kinematic regions defined by the masses M-X and M-Y of the two final-state hadronic systems separated by the largest rapidity gap in the event. Differential cross sections are measured as a function of xi= M-X(2)/s in the region -5.5 3, logio M-X > 1.1, and logioMy > 1.1, a region dominated by DD. The cross sections integrated over these regions are found to be, respectively, 2.99 0.02(staf)12392(sys...
Measurement of the Drell-Yan cross section in pp collisions at root s=7 TeV
Chatrchyan, S.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2011-10-01)
The Drell-Yan differential cross section is measured in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV, from a data sample collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb(-1). The cross section measurement, normalized to the measured cross section in the Z region, is reported for both the dimuon and dielectron channels in the dilepton invariant mass range 15-600 GeV. The normalized cross section values are quoted both in the full phase space and within the detector acceptance...
Measurement of traffic related toxic air pollutants in an urban atmosphere
Oguz, Öznur; Karman, Deniz; Tuncel, Süleyman Gürdal (2003-04-01)
Nose-level measurements of air toxics were made along a busy urban street in Ottawa, Canada for 2 hr periods during morning, noon, and afternoon rush hours in the winter and summer of 2000. Measurements were also made in a commuter car and a transit bus during morning and afternoon commutes in 2000. The main objectives of the study were to establish a database, to determine temporal and seasonal variations and to determine the contribution of motor vehicle traffic to the measured toxic substance concentrati...
Measurement of ground borne vibrations for foundation design and vibration isolation of a high-precision instrument
ÜLGEN, DENİZ; ERTUĞRUL, ÖZGÜR LÜTFİ; Özkan, M. Yener (2016-11-01)
This study focuses on the foundation design and vibration isolation of a high-precision instrument subjected to ground-borne vibrations. The allowable vibration level for the proper operation of the sensitive equipment was 50 mu g in a frequency range of 1-300 Hz. Prior to foundation design, first, an extensive field survey including geological and geophysical tests were performed in situ to obtain the static and dynamic physical properties of the soils. Next, vibration levels at various locations in the vi...
