We report the electrochemical cofactor regeneration for electroenzymatic reduction as a promising alternative to the enzymatic recycling due to the avoidance of couple products. In the mediated electron transfer reaction appropriate redox mediators for the cofactor reduction are necessary. We have synthesized different redox mediators-based on rhodium complexes-and have screened their electrochemical performance at different pH values and concentrations. Suitable mediators have been tested in the presence of the cofactor NAD+ and then additionally in the presence of D-sorbitol dehydrogenase (DSDH) from Rhodobacter sphaeroides. The electroenzymatically generated product was analyzed by HPLC. As result of the screening some mediator species were identified which enable an efficient electrochemical cofactor reduction. Paper Based Glucose Biosensor Using Graphene Modified with a Conducting Polymer and Gold Nanoparticles
GOKOGLAN, Tugba Ceren; KESİK, Melis; SOYLEMEZ, Saniye; YÜKSEL, Recep; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah; Toppare, Levent Kamil (The Electrochemical Society, 2017-01-01)
In this work a novel approach was reported for glucose detection using disposable paper based electrodes consisting graphene modified with a conducting polymer, glucose oxidase (GOx) and gold nanoparticles. For the first time, a conducting polymer; poly(9,9-di-(2-ethylhexyl)-fluorenyl-2,7-diyl)-end capped with 2,5-diphenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazole (PFLO) was spread over graphene coated papers and used as a matrix for glucose detection. To finalize the desired biosensor, the enzyme GOx was immobilized with gold nano...

We report on the photophysical properties and photovoltaic performance of a polythiophene derivative, poly-2,3-bis(4-tert-butylphenyl)-5,8-bis(4-hexylthiophen-2-yl)quinoxaline(PHTQ) as an electron donor in bulk heterojunction Solar Cells blended with the acceptor 1-(3-met hoxycarbonyl)propyl-1-phenyl-[6,6]-methanofullerence (PCBM). Devices were composed of PHTQ and varying amounts of PCBM (1:1, 1:2, 1:3, 1:4 w-w ratio). The components were spin cast from ortho-dichlorobenzene (ODCB) and characterized by mea...
Syntheses and Electrochemical Characterization of Low Oxidation Potential Nitrogen Analogs of Pedot as Electrochromic Materials
Hacioglu, Serife O.; Yigit, Deniz; Ermis, Emel; Soylemez, Saniye; GÜLLÜ, Mustafa; Toppare, Levent Kamil (The Electrochemical Society, 2016-01-01)
In this study, the electropolymerization of ethyl andmethyl substituted asymmetrical nitrogen analogs of 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (OEt and OMe) were synthesized, characterized and their electrochemical properties were investigated. Both polymers (POEt and POMe) were synthesized electrochemically and characterized using spectroelectrochemical technique to determine optical changes of the resulting polymer films. Electrochemical studies demonstrated that these polymers exhibited a significantly low oxidatio...
Hollow core mesoporous shell carbon supported Pt electrocatalysts with high Pt loading for PEMFCs
Guvenatam, Burcu; Ficicilar, Berker; BAYRAKÇEKEN YURTCAN, Ayşe; Eroğlu, İnci (Elsevier BV, 2012-01-01)
The aim of this study is to synthesize mesoporous carbon supports and prepare their corresponding electrocatalysts with microwave irradiation method and also increasing the Pt loading over the carbon support by using some additional reducing agents. Pt loadings on hollow core mesoporous shell (HCMS) and commercial Vulcan XC72 carbon supports up to 34% and 44%, respectively, were achieved via polyol process with microwave irradiation method. When hydrazine or sodium borohydride was used in addition to ethyle...
PARTIAL MOLAR PROPERTIES OF MGCL2 IN MGCL2-KCL-CACL2 MELTS
ZHU, J; Karakaya, İshak; THOMPSON, WT (The Electrochemical Society, 1988-01-01)
To further the understanding of electrolytes of value in industrial magnesium electrolysis, the reversible emf for the formation of in fused salts containing and was studied. The data made possible the calculation of thermodynamic solution properties which were used with other data to construct features of the ternary phase diagram. The multiple discrete complex anion (MDCA) model was tested against the thermodynamic findings from the present study. Reasonable agreement was obtained between the experimen...
