The impact of methionine, tryptophan and proline on methane (95%)-propane (5%) hydrate formation
Longinos, Sotirios Nik; Longinou, Dimitra-Dionisia; Parlaktuna, Mahmut; Toktarbay, Zhexenbek (2021-10-01)
This study examines the impact of three amino acids such as proline, methionine and tryptophan on methane (95%)-propane (5%) hydrate formation with the use of different impellers. The concentration of amino acids was 1 wt% at 24.5 bar and 2 degrees C. Based on experimental outcomes proline behaves as inhibitor and methionine and tryptophan perform as promoters. RT experiments both formed more quickly gas hydrates and indicated higher values in rate of hydrate formation compared to PBTU and PBTD experiments ...
The low frequency of defective TPMT alleles in Turkish population: A study on pediatric patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Tumer, Tugba Boyunegmez; Ulusoy, Gulen; Adalı, Orhan; Sahin, Gurses; Gozdasoglu, Sevgi; Arinc, Ennel (Wiley, 2007-10-01)
6-Mercaptopurine (6MP) is an essential anticancer drug used in the treatment of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Thiopurine methyltransferase (TPMT) polymorphisms are the major determinants of interindividual differences in the severe toxicity or efficacy of 6MP Four variant alleles, TPMT*2, TPMT*3A, TPMT*3B, and TPMT*3C, are responsible over the 80% of low or undetectable enzyme activity. The frequencies of these variants were investigated among 106 children with ALL in Turkish population. TPM...
THE ROLE OF CHOLESTEROL IN IDENTIFICATION OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL FOOD RESIDUES
Türker, Burhan Lemi; DEMIRCI, S; MELIKOGLU, T (1992-01-01)
An identification method, based on the total cholesterol level determination for identifying whether archaeological food residues have animal or vegetable origin, has been developed. The method has been applied for the identification of various archaeological food samples excavated in Turkey belonging to the 800, 3000 and 4000 Bc. periods.

The examination of metal working technology in Kültepe in Assyrian Trade Colonies Period
Ercanlı, Levent; Kalkanlı, Ali; Toprak, Vedat; Department of Archaeometry (2012)
Metal played important role in the social and economic development of societies since its discovery. It is so important that the some part of humankind historical development were designated by the type of metal which was extensively used depending upon the level of technology of that period enabling the processing of metal like bronze age and iron age. In this frame, the rich metal deposits of Anatolia made this region a very important metal working and civilization center. Kültepe where it was the center ...
