It is very clear from developments in technology and its global expansion that we cannot survive the 21st century with 20th century ethics. The developments in technology, especially those in the field of medicine have a direct and fast effect on human life expectation and survival. Thus, this issue has to be seen and studied in the context of ethics. In this paper, ethical principles in the application of new medical technologies in neurosurgery from an Islamic viewpoint will be given.

Coordination of nanometrology in Europe (CO-NANOMET)
Turan, Raşit(2010-12-31)
Nanotechnology has the ability to become the most promising technology advance for the 21st Century. It offers a huge potential of applications and economic benefits, which may contribute to the European economy. Scientifically and economically, nano-metrology is an indispensible part for nanotechnology which must develop hand in hand with the developments of nano-science and –technology. The programme of work set out in this project will address the need within Europe to develop the required measurement fr...
Performance in the Workplace: a Critical Evaluation of Cognitive Enhancement
Acartürk, Cengiz; Mücen, Barış (2022-04-01)
The popular debates about the future organization of work through artificial intelligence technologies focus on the replacement of human beings by novel technologies. In this essay, we oppose this statement by closely following what has been developed as AI technologies and analyzing how they work, specifically focusing on research that may impact work organizations. We develop this argument by showing that the recent research and developments in AI technologies focus on developing accurate and precise perf...
Enlightenment and Global History (ENGLOBE)
Peker, Ali Uzay(2013-10-31)
"ENGLOBE (""Enlightenment and Global History"") is a projected network of researchers concerned with Europe’s role in the process of globalization. Its thematic aims are located in the newly emerging supra-disciplinary field of Global History which provides a highly useful mode of reflection on the cultural and historical dimension of globalization processes. The Enlightenment has a double significance within this field. It was the first moment in history when questions and problems arising out of globaliza...
IDS for Ideas in Higher Education Reform
Onur, Selahattin (2009-06-12)
Increasing technical and socio-cultural information accompanied by a fragmented specialization in knowledge and skills, rapidly changing technology, and liberal economic growth that negates rational use and distribution of world's resources challenge ecological sustainability. These challenges and concurrent trends for sustainable development, e.g., sustainable construction, motivate the IDS approach in the delivery of projects for the built environment.
Institutional Economic Approaches to Technology
Gürkan, Ceyhun; Özveren, Eyüp; Department of Science and Technology Policy Studies (2004)
By probing Thorstein B. Veblen̕s (1857-1929) and Joseph A. Schumpeter̕s (1883-1950) views on technology, this thesis aims at displaying an institutional economic approach to technology. Most of the contemporary studies on technological change are under the dominance of neoclassical economics. Because of their inadequacies in revealing the complex structure of technological phenomena due to their adherence to mechanistic and deterministic postulations of orthodox economic theory, an institutional approach to...
