THE UPDATE OF KAYDER INFORMATION-SYSTEM FOR IGNEOUS ROCK DATA IN TURKEY

1993-09-01
UNAN, C
The KAYDER project has been active since 1973 as a database of petrological and geochemical data on igneous rocks from Turkey. It was developed as part of IGCP Project No. 163 (IGBA) and now has 2807 analyses of igneous rocks taken from 123 publications. dBASE III Plus and GW BASIC were used to write programs to detect errors, to calculate petrographic parameters and to plot data in various diagrams including a map of Turkey.

An easy-to-use MATLAB program (MamLand) for the assessment of landslide susceptibility using a Mamdani fuzzy algorithm
Akgun, A.; SEZER, EBRU; Nefeslioglu, H. A.; GÖKÇEOĞLU, CANDAN; Pradhan, B. (Elsevier BV, 2012-01-01)
In this study, landslide susceptibility mapping using a completely expert opinion-based approach was applied for the Sinop (northern Turkey) region and its close vicinity. For this purpose, an easy-to-use program, "MamLand," was developed for the construction of a Mamdani fuzzy inference system and employed in MATLAB. Using this newly developed program, it is possible to construct a landslide susceptibility map based on expert opinion. In this study, seven conditioning parameters characterising topographica...
Development of a geotechnical and geophysical database for seismic zonation of the Ankara Basin, Turkey
Koçkar, Mustafa K.; Akgün, Haluk (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2008-07-01)
Engineering geological and geotechnical site characteristics were assessed and seismic hazard studies performed for the Upper Pliocene to Pleistocene fluvial and Quaternary alluvial and terrace deposits for a site west of Ankara, Turkey. Sediment conditions were determined and a soil profile was characterized by surface geophysical methods. These studies were integrated with existing in-situ characterization studies to create a seismic and geotechnical database for the site. A seismic zonation map of the si...
A new approach to evaluate the MODIS annual NPP product (MOD17A3) using forest field data from Turkey
Gulbeyaz, Onder; Bond-Lamberty, Ben; Akyürek, Sevda Zuhal; West, Tristram O. (Informa UK Limited, 2018-01-01)
In this study, we present the first evaluation of the MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) annual net primary production (NPP) for Turkey's forest ecosystems using field measurements. Due to lack of country scale field measurements (i.e. flux tower for forest ecosystems), tree DBH (diameter at breast height) data set provided by Ministry of Forest and Water Affairs (MFWA) of Turkey is used to calculate NPP of Turkey's forest ecosystems. The lack of a reliable NPP data set leads the research...
Evaluation of the NDVI in plant community composition mapping: a case study of Tersakan Valley, Amasya County, Turkey
DOĞAN, Hakan Mete; Celep, Ferhat; Karaer, Fergan (Informa UK Limited, 2009-01-01)
Mapping the composition of plant community types requires reliable spatial data obtained from field surveys and satellite-derived indices. The normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) is the simplest and most frequently used index in plant applications. If relationships between the NDVI and plant cover abundance are determined, this information can be used in the mapping process. In this study, we investigated these possible connections for mapping the plant community composition of Tersakan Valley in ...
A REVIEW OF THE LEVANTINE BASIN CIRCULATION AND ITS VARIABILITY DURING 1985-1988
OZSOY, E; HECHT, A; UNLUATA, U; BRENNER, S; OGUZ, T; BISHOP, J; LATIF, MA; ROZENTRAUB, Z (Elsevier BV, 1991-04-01)
The variability of the Levantine Basin circulation and hydrography is reviewed based on a collection of recent data sets. The major emphasis is placed on the complexity of the associated dynamics. The region is shown to be populated with synoptic and mesoscale dynamic features. In addition to the complexity arising due to the heterogeneity of water masses and the variability of the atmospheric and thermohaline forcing, the confines of the relatively small basin causes the sub-basin-scale gyres to be in c...
