Dynamically Switching among Bundled and Single Tickets with Time-Dependent Demand Rates
Duran, Serhan (2012-01-01)
The most important market segmentation in sports and entertainment industry is the competition between customers that buy bundled and single tickets. A common selling practice is starting the selling season with bundled ticket sales and switching to selling single tickets later on. The aim of this practice is to increase the number of customers that buy bundles, which in return increases the load factor of the events with low demand. In this paper, we investigate the effect of time dependent demand on dynam...
Analysis of finite element method solution of sinusoidal buckling behaviour of drill string in vertical, directional, and horizontal wellbores and comparison with analytical solutions
Cebeci, Mehmet; Kök, Mustafa Verşan; Gücüyener, İ. Hakkı; Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering (2017)
The buckling of drill string in oil, gas and geothermal wells is a critical problem that has been of interest to many researchers in the industry. Prevention of buckling of drill string is important since it may negatively affect the drilling operations. When buckling of drill string occurs, it may cause deviation control problems while drilling, inefficient load transfer to the bit, excessive torque values, even pipe failures due to fatigue. The first rigorous treatment of stability of drill strings for ve...
Configuration of Neural Networks for the Analysis of Seasonal Time Series
Taşkaya Temizel, Tuğba (2005-08-25)
Time series often exhibit periodical patterns that can be analysed by conventional statistical techniques. These techniques rely upon an appropriate choice of model parameters that are often difficult to determine. Whilst neural networks also require an appropriate parameter configuration, they offer a way in which non-linear patterns may be modelled. However, evidence from a limited number of experiments has been used to argue that periodical patterns cannot be modelled using such networks. In this paper, ...
MONTE-CARLO SIMULATION STUDIES OF BINARY-MIXTURES - A MEASURE OF THE MIXING
Karaaslan, Hasan (1994-01-01)
A Monte Carlo algorithm tailored to fast equilibration of binary mixtures is applied to Lennard-Jones fluids and solids. In order to study phase transitions as functions of interaction parameters as well as of the temperature, a measure of the mixing is defined which is based on the normalized differences of radial distribution functions. At all temperatures sharp transitions are observed when the ratio of the interaction strengths of like and unlike particles reaches a threshold value.
Archaeometric investigations of stone Deterioration in Kalecik (Ankara) castle
Akaoğlu, Alp Osman; Topal, Tamer; Günal Türkmenoğlu, Asuman; Department of Archaeometry (2012)
Kalecik Castle is an important historical building. However, dacitic building stone sed is deteriorating mainly because of atmospheric conditions. The purpose of this tudy is to understand the deterioration mechanisms affecting the dacitic stones used n the castle’s walls. To achieve this purpose various arhaeometrical methods such as etrography, X-ray diffraction analyses, analyses for determining physical poperties density, porosity, and water absorption capacities), ultrasonic velocity easurements and so...
