Sabah, Cumali
The design and characterization of perfect metamaterial absorbers (MAs) based on simple configurations including square- and triangle-shapes, which operate in X-band frequency region are numerically and experimentally investigated. The proposed MAs provide perfect absorption with the polarization angle independency. In X-band wave guide, the absorption rates are 99.69% and 99.97% at the resonance frequencies of 10.57 GHz and 10.93 GHz for the square- and triangle-shaped MAs, respectively. In addition, the same configurations are numerically tested under free space boundary conditions to compare and discuss the obtained results. The suggested MAs enable myriad potential application areas for security and stealth technologies in X-band including wireless communication.

Investigation of microwave metamaterial based on H-shaped resonator in a waveguide configuration and its sensor and absorber applications
Sabah, Cumali; Taygur, Mehmet Mert; ZORAL, EMİNE YEŞİM (2015-04-13)
A microwave metamaterial (MTM) based on H-shaped resonator in a waveguide configuration is introduced and investigated both numerically and experimentally for X-band frequencies. The proposed model is designed and fabricated on both sides of the substrate and exhibits strong magnetic resonance at around 10.5GHz. Additionally, it has very simple design which improves and simplifies the fabrication process. Besides, only one single slab is used in the simulation and experiment which provides a reduction in th...
Design and analysis of perfect metamaterial absorber in GHz and THz frequencies
Dincer, Furkan; KARAASLAN, MUHARREM; Sabah, Cumali (2015-12-12)
The new perfect metamaterial absorber (MA) based on square resonator with gap configuration is numerically (for GHz and THz frequency regime) and experimentally (for GHz frequency regime) presented and investigated. The proposed MA has a simple configuration which introduces flexibility to adjust its metamaterial properties and easily rescale the structure for other frequency regimes. In addition, polarization and incident angle independencies of the proposed model are analyzed for the THz frequency regime....
Dynamic and tunable chiral metamaterials with wideband constant chirality over a certain frequency band
Dincer, Furkan; KARAASLAN, MUHARREM; AKGÖL, OĞUZHAN; ÜNAL, EMİN; Sabah, Cumali (2015-01-01)
We present numerically and experimentally a dynamic chiral metamaterial (MTM) that creates strong optical activity and circular dichroism. The proposed tunable structure has a very simple and more efficient configuration which introduces flexibility to adjust its EM properties. In addition, it gives a giant negative refractive index due to the high chirality. Our experimental results confirm the strong optical activity for a wide frequency range and agree with the simulation results. Moreover, the proposed ...

ERKİŞİ, AYTAÇ; SÜRÜCÜ, GÖKHAN (2018-12-01)
Full-Heusler Fe3M (M=Al, Ga, Si and Ge) alloys whose crystal structure is DO3-type disordered structure which conforms to Fm (3) over barm space group, have been investigated by using Local Spin Density Approximation (LSDA) and Generalized Gradient Spin Approximation (GGSA) in the Density Functional Theory (DFT) as implemented in VASP (Vienna Ab initio Simulation Package) software. After the examination of ground states of our materials in DO3-type structure, their full structural, mechanical properties and...
Development of high fill factor and high performance uncooled infrared detector pixels
Küçük, Şeniz Esra; Akın, Tayfun; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2011)
This thesis presents the design, fabrication and characterization of high performance and high fill factor surface micromachined uncooled infrared resistive microbolometer detectors which can be used in large format focal plane arrays (FPAs). The detector pixels, which have a pixel pitch of 25 μm, are designed and fabricated as two-level structures using the enhanced sandwich type resistor while the active material is selected as Yttrium Barium Copper Oxide (YBCO). First level of the pixel structure is allo...
