Lie point symmetries of Duff-Inami-Pope-Sezgin-Stelle bosonic membrane equations

1997-04-20
Satir, A
Lie point symmetries of the bosonic membrane equations of Duff-Inami-Pope-Sezgin-Stelle (DIPPS) are given. Different finite subgroups of the Lie group are used to reduce the membrane equations to various equations involving two independent variables, and then one. Integrability properties of the reduced equations are also discussed.

Interacting quantum topologies and the quantum Hall effect
Balachandran, A. P.; Gupta, Kumar S.; Kürkcüoğlu, Seçkin (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 2008-04-10)
The algebra of observables of planar electrons subject to a constant background magnetic field B is given by A(theta)(R-2) circle times A(theta)(R-2) (theta = -4/eB), the product of two mutually commuting Moyal algebras. It describes the free Hamiltonian and the guiding center coordinates. We argue that A(theta)(R-2) itself furnishes a representation space for the actions of these two Moyal algebras, and suggest physical arguments for this choice of the representation space. We give the proper setup to coup...
APPROXIMATE l-STATE SOLUTIONS TO THE KLEIN-GORDON EQUATION FOR MODIFIED WOODS-SAXON POTENTIAL WITH POSITION DEPENDENT MASS
Arda, Altug; Sever, Ramazan (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 2009-08-20)
The radial part of the Klein-Gordon equation for the generalized Woods-Saxon potential is solved by using the Nikiforov-Uvarov method with spatially dependent mass within the new approximation scheme to the centrifugal potential term. The energy eigenvalues and corresponding normalized eigenfunctions are computed. The solutions in the case of constant mass are also obtained to check out the consistency of our new approximation scheme.
HIGHER-DERIVATIVE EFFECTIVE YANG-MILLS THEORY AND STATIC SPHERICALLY SYMMETRICAL FIELD CONFIGURATIONS
BASKAL, S; DERELI, T (IOP Publishing, 1993-04-01)
The variational field equations and the covariantly conserved energy-momentum tensor of a higher-derivative effective Yang-Mills theory are given. A class of static spherically symmetric gauge field configurations that follow from the Wu-Yang ansatz is considered.
A perturbative treatment for the energy levels of neutral atoms
Ikhdair, Sameer M.; Sever, Ramazan (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 2006-12-20)
Energy levels of neutral atoms have been reexamined by applying an alternative perturbative scheme in solving the Schrodinger equation for the Yukawa potential model with a modified screening parameter. The predicted shell binding energies axe found to be quite accurate over the entire range of the atomic number Z up to 84 and compare very well with those obtained within the framework of hypervirial-Pade scheme and the method of shifted large-N expansion. It is observed that the new perturbative method may ...
RARE B-MESON DECAYS IN SUPERSYMMETRY
Alıyev, Tahmasıb; YILMAZ, O (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1993-08-01)
The weak processes B --> KllBAR, B --> H* llBAR (l = e or mu), B --> KnunuBAR and B --> K* nunuBAR are studied in the framework of the supersymmetric theory (SUSY). It is shown that the branching ratio (BR) for B --> KllBAR decay is in the order of 10(-6) and it is approximately 10(-5) divided-by 10(-6) for B --> K* llBAR. It is found that there are mass regions where the contribution of the SUSY particles to the decay rate exceeds that of the SM. Using the existing experimental upper bound to BR restrictio...
