In this paper, a PMSM is fed by a matrix converter to perform four -quadrant operation. Combining a matrix converter and a PMSM results in an increase at the performance of the drive system. Especially, some of motor applications require motoring and regenerating operation such as cranes, hoists and lifts. Bi-directional power flow feature of the matrix converter is used for these type motor applications. In addition, the converter input current and output current waveforms are analyzed considering their harmonic spectra. This study has shown that the matrix converter is very effective solution for this type of motor applications.

ANALYSIS OF MILLIMETER WAVE-GUIDES ON ANISOTROPIC SUBSTRATES USING THE 3-DIMENSIONAL TRANSMISSION-LINE MATRIX-METHOD
BULUTAY, C; PRASAD, S (1993-06-01)
Three-dimensional condensed asymmetrical node, variable grid, transmission-line matrix (TLM) method has been used in analyzing several millimeter waveguides on anisotropic substrates. The dispersion characteristics of image guides together with field and energy confinement properties at millimeter-wave frequencies have been investigated. Edge coupled microstrip line on a uniaxial substrate is analyzed for the even and odd mode dispersion characteristics. Finally the same analysis is repeated for bilateral f...
Nonintrusive model order reduction for cross-diffusion systems
Karasözen, Bülent; Mülayim, Gülden; Uzunca, Murat (2022-12-01)
In this paper, we investigate tensor based nonintrusive reduced-order models (ROMs) for parametric cross-diffusion equations. The full-order model (FOM) consists of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) in matrix or tensor form resulting from finite difference discretization of the differential operators by taking the advantage of Kronecker structure. The matrix/tensor differential equations are integrated in time with the implicit–explicit (IMEX) Euler method. The reduced bases, relying on a finite sample...
Two-Step Lagrange Interpolation Method for the Multilevel Fast Multipole Algorithm
Ergül, Özgür Salih; Gurel, L. (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2009)
We present a two-step Lagrange interpolation method for the efficient solution of large-scale electromagnetics problems with the multilevel fast multipole algorithm (MLFMA). Local interpolations are required during aggregation and disaggregation stages of MLFMA in order to match the different sampling rates for the radiated and incoming fields in consecutive levels. The conventional one-step method is decomposed into two one-dimensional interpolations, applied successively. As it provides a significant acce...
One-dimensional representation of two-dimensional information for HMM based handwriting recognition
Arica, N; Yarman Vural, Fatoş Tunay (Elsevier BV, 2000-06-01)
In this study, we introduce a one-dimensional feature set, which embeds two-dimensional information into an observation sequence of one-dimensional string, selected from a code-book. It provides a consistent normalization among distinct classes of shapes, which is very convenient for Hidden Markov Model (HMM) based shape recognition schemes. The normalization parameters, which maximize the recognition rate, are dynamically estimated in the training stage of HMM. The proposed recognition system is tested on ...
A high performance Sigma-Delta readout circuitry for mu g resolution microaccelerometers
Ocak, Ilker E.; Kepenek, Reha; Külah, Haluk; Akın, Tayfun (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2010-08-01)
This paper reports a second order electromechanical sigma-delta readout for micro-g resolution accelerometers in addition to other high-sensitivity capacitive microsensors with large base capacitance. The chip implements a switched-capacitor readout front-end and an oversampled sigma-delta modulator, and hence can be used for both open-loop analog readout and closed-loop control and readout with direct digital output. The readout circuit has more than 115 dB dynamic range and can resolve less than 3 aF/root...
