The dissociation dynamics of small carbon clusters is studied by classical trajectory analysis. A large number of initial conditions are chosen to analyze the effects of the energy, angular momentum and the initial geometry of the cluster. The dissociation times, decay rate constants, kinetic energy of the dissociating atoms and the geometrical structure of the remaining part of the clusters are computed from microcanonical sampling of the phase space. Distributions of these properties as well as the possibilities of various fragmentation channels are presented.

Anisotropic elastic and vibrational properties of Ru2B3 and Os2B3: a first-principles investigation
Ozisik, Haci; Deligoz, Engin; Sürücü, Gökhan; Ozisik, Havva Bogaz (2016-07-01)
The structural, mechanical and lattice dynamical properties of Ru2B3 and Os2B3 have been investigated by using a first-principles method based on the density functional theory within the generalized gradient approximation. The single crystal elastic constants are numerically estimated using strain-stress approach. The polycrystalline aggregate elastic parameters are calculated from the single elastic constants via the Voigt-Reuss-Hill approximations. Subsequently, the ductility and brittleness are character...
Dissociation of Ph-3 and AsH3 on Ge(100)(2x1) surface
Katırcıoğlu, Şenay (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 2007-06-01)
The most stable structures for the dissociation of phosphine and arsine on Ge(100)(2x1) surface have been investigated by relative total energy calculations based on Density Functional Theory. It has been found that the thermodynamically preferred structures in the dissociation path of phosphine and arsine are the same; PH2 and AsH2 products prefer to be on a single Ge dimer bond, but PH and AsH prefer to be between the adjacent Ge dimers. According to the optimization calculations, the dissociation path st...
Metamagnetic Phase Transitions in La1-xNdxMn2Si2
Emre, B.; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (2013-04-01)
Experimental measurements for the magnetization at various temperatures are analyzed using a mean field model for the purely ferromagnetic spin configuration near the metamagnetic phase transitions in La1-x Nd (x) Mn2Si2 (x=0.3) at a constant magnetic field (50 mT). By fitting the temperature dependence of the magnetization from the free energy in the mean field model to the experimental data for this compound, the coefficients in the free energy expansion are determined. Our analysis of the magnetization d...
Molecular Dynamics Simulations of ZnO Nanostructures Under Strain: II-Nanorods
Kilic, Mehmet Emin; Erkoç, Şakir (American Scientific Publishers, 2013-01-01)
Structural properties of zinc oxide nanorods have been investigated by performing classical molecular dynamics simulations. Atomistic potential energy function has been used to represent the interactions among the atoms. Strain has been applied to the generated ZnO nanostructures along their length, which has been realized at two different temperatures, 1 K and 300 K. It has been found that ZnO nanostructures following strain application undergo a structural change depending on temperature and geometry.
