Polypropylene(PP)/carbon black(CB) composites at different compositions were prepared via melt blending of PP with CB. The effect of CB content on mechanical and electrical properties was studied. Test samples were prepared by injection molding and compression molding techniques. The effect of processing type on mechanical and electrical properties was also investigated. Composites become semi-conductive by addition of 2wt% CB. The relation between mechanical and electrical properties was discussed. The influence of CB content on morphology and crystallinity was also studied.

Preparation and Characterization of Polypropylene/Serpentine Composites
Tan, Semra; Tincer, İsmail Teoman (Wiley, 2011-07-15)
Composites of serpentine and polypropylene (PP) were prepared by twin-screw extrusion. Serpentine was collected as rocks from the Ankara-Beynam region and ground into powder with an average particle size of about 3 mu m for composite production. Both as-received (rock) and powdered serpentine were characterized. A silane coupling agent (SCA), gamma-aminopropyl triethoxy silane, was used for the surface treatment of serpentine. Mechanical properties of the composites were measured in terms of impact strength...
Stress analysis of symmetric aluminum composite-laminated beams under a bending moment: Materially nonlinear only
Sayman, O; Belevi, M; Altinhan, M (SAGE Publications, 2005-01-01)
In this study, an elastic-plastic stress analysis is carried out on symmetric laminated composite beams subjected to a bending moment. The composite beam is to be strain hardening. The Bernoulli and Euler hypotheses are assumed to be valid. The Tsai-Hill theory is used as a yield criterion in the solution. The solution is carried out for (90 degrees/0 degrees)(2), (30 degrees/-30 degrees)(2), (45 degrees/-45 degrees)(2), and (60 degrees/-60 degrees)(2) orientations. The bending moment is to be found the hig...
Monotonic and cyclic compressive behavior of superelastic TiNi foams processed by sintering using magnesium space holder technique
Nakas, G. Ipek; Dericioğlu, Arcan Fehmi; Bor, Sakir (Elsevier BV, 2013-10-10)
TiNi foams with porosity contents varying in the range of 39-58 vol% were processed by sintering with space holder technique. Magnesium was employed as the space holder material because of its relatively low boiling temperature as well as high oxygen affinity. Processed foams were characterized in terms of both microstructural and mechanical aspects. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffractometer (XRD) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) were employed for microstructure and phase analyses w...
Electrochromic properties of 'Trimeric' thiophene-pyrrole-thiophene derivative grown from electrodeposited 6-(2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)hexan-1-amine and its copolymer
Tarkuc, Simge; Ak, Metin; Onurhan, Erdal; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Informa UK Limited, 2008-01-01)
A centrosymmetric polymer precursor, namely 6-(2,5-di(thiophen-2-yl)-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)hexan-1-amine (TPHA), was synthesized via a Knorr-Paal reaction using 1,4-di(2-thienyl)-1,4-butanedione and hexane-1,6-diamine. The resultant monomer was characterized by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (H-1-NMR). Electroactivity of TPHA was investigated via cyclic voltammetry. The electronic structure and the nature of electrochromism in P(TPHA) and its copolymer with EDOT, (P(TPHA-co-EDOT)), were examined via spectroelectrochem...
Efficient light emitting diodes from polyfluorene copolymer blends
Çırpan, Ali; Karasz, FE (Elsevier BV, 2005-04-30)
Highly efficient light emitting diodes were obtained by blending blue-emitting poly [(9,9-dioctylfluorenyl-2,7-diyl)-alt-co-(N,N'-diphenyl)-N,N-di(p-butyl-oxyphenyl)-1 ,4-diaminobenzene] (1) with green-emitting poly [(9,9-dioctyl-2,7-divinylene-fluorenylene)-alt-co-{2-methoxy-5-(2-ethylhexyloxy)-1,4-phenylene}] (II). Only green emission was obtained from the films of polymer blends and from corresponding double-layer LEDs, indicating an almost complete Forster energy transfer from I to II. These devices sho...
