UNIT SIZED TRANSFER BATCH SCHEDULING WITH SETUP TIMES

Transfer batch scheduling permits the movement of some portion of a job or lot at downstream stages before the entire job is completed at the current stage. This paper considers the two stage flow shop problem of minimizing the total completion time, in which all transfer batches are of unit size for each job. An optimal solution procedure is developed for unit sized transfer batch scheduling with setup times which are independent of the sequence and are separated from the processing times at both stages.

Single machine scheduling with maximum earliness and number tardy
Azizoğlu, Meral; Koksalan, M (Elsevier BV, 2003-08-01)
In this paper, we study the bicriteria scheduling problem of minimizing the maximum earliness and the number of tardy jobs on a single machine. We assume idle time insertion is not allowed. We first examine the problem of minimizing maximum earliness while keeping the number of tardy jobs to its minimum value. We then propose a general procedure for <LF>generating all efficient schedules for bicriteria problems. We also develop a general procedure to find the efficient schedule that minimizes a composite fu...
AN INTERACTIVE APPROACH FOR A DUAL CONSTRAINT JOB SHOP SCHEDULING PROBLEM
KONDAKCI, S; GUPTA, RM (Elsevier BV, 1991-01-01)
Until recently, heuristic dispatching rules were the only practical means to solve the job shop scheduling problem. Currently, a promising direction in job shop scheduling is interactive scheduling. In this study an interactive scheduling approach is developed for a dual-constraint dynamic job shop production environment. The approach is used by a number of subjects in an experiment. The performance of the subjects is compared with that of dispatching rules based on tardiness and other measures relevant...
Comparison of international federation of consulting engineers and general specification for public works contracts from risk management perspective
Usta, Ergun; Birgönül, Mustafa Talat; Department of Civil Engineering (2005)
Contractors have to construct the projects efficiently in accordance with the contract provisions when they accept a contract. All construction projects involve risk and there is no possibility to eliminate all the risks associated with a specific project. Management of risk requires identification and analysis of risk factors. After this risk assessment step, proper response strategies have to be developed so that an optimum risk-reward structure is ensured. Contracts are the grounds where risk allocation ...
Determination of contingency for international construction project during bidding stage
Ergin, Abdullah Arif; Sönmez, Rifat; Department of Civil Engineering (2005)
Determination of contingency for international projects plays an important role for inclusion of risks taken by the contractor on the bid amount. Although determination of contingency is an important stage of bid preparation for international projects, the methods that are being used by Turkish contractors for quantification of contingency are very limited. In this thesis the factors affecting the contingency decisions of Turkish contractors for international projects will be investigated. The significance ...
Fast cell determination of the DSMC molecules in multi-stage turbo molecular pump design
Sengil, N.; Edis, Fırat Oğuz (Elsevier BV, 2011-06-01)
In this study, an existing 2D parallel DSMC solver is modified, to analyze the multi-stage turbomolecular pumps more efficiently. Generally, molecule movements are traced cell-by-cell in DSMC solvers both in structured and unstructured meshes in order to determine which cell the DSMC molecule is positioned in. These calculations require time consuming trigonometric operations. If a nonrectangular physical domain can be converted into a rectangular computational domain using curvilinear coordinates, then it ...
