The parity violating (PV) nucleon self-energy in nuclear matter is calculated in a relativistic Hartree-Fock approximation. Omega meson contributions are enhanced 63% by relativistic effects. However, the total PV self-energy is dominated by pi and rho contributions, which are relatively insensitive to relativistic effects. These results are used to estimate the 2dr5/2 to 2f5/2 PV matrix element in Pb-207.

Phonon dispersions and elastic constants of disordered Pd-Ni alloys
Kart, SO; Tomak, Mehmet; Cagin, T (Elsevier BV, 2005-01-31)
Phonon frequencies of Pd-Ni alloys are calculated by molecular dynamics (MD) simulation. Lattice dynamical properties computed from Sutton-Chen (SC) and quantum Sutton-Chen (Q-SC) potentials as a function of temperature are compared with each other. We present all interatomic force constants up to the 8th nearest-neighbor shell obtained by using the calculated potential. Elastic constants evaluated by two methods are consistent with each other. The transferability of the potential is also tested. The result...
Anisotropic Elastic and Lattice Dynamical Properties of Cr2AB MAX Phases Compounds
Gencer, Ayşenur; Yılmaz, İnanç; Bayhan, Ülkü; Sürücü, Gökhan (2019-03-01)
The structural, mechanical and lattice dynamical properties of the MAX Phase borides compounds Cr2AB (A= Al, P, Si) have been investigated using the first principles calculations with the generalized gradient approximation (GGA) based on Density Functional Theory (DFT). The obtained negative formation energies of Cr2AB indicate that these compounds are stable and could be synthesized. Some basic physical parameters such as lattice constants, elastic constants, bulk modulus, Shear modulus, Young’s modulus, a...
Composition-tuned optical absorption and luminescence of TlGaxIn1-xS2 layered mixed crystals at T=10 K
Hasanlı, Nızamı (Elsevier BV, 2018-10-01)
Transmittance on TlGaxIn1-xS2 mixed crystals (0 <= x <= 1) was carried out in the 2.35-2.75 eV photon energy range at T = 10 K. Band gap energies of crystals were obtained utilizing the derivative spectra of transmittance and photon energy dependence of absorption coefficient. The dependence of direct band gap energy on composition at T = 10 K revealed that as gallium composition is elevated in the mixed crystals, the direct band gap energy increases from 2.56 to 2.67 eV.
PHOTOIONIZATION OF IMPURITIES IN QUANTUM-WELLS
ELSAID, M; Tomak, Mehmet (1992-06-01)
The dependence of photoionization cross-section on photon energy is calculated for shallow donors in quantum wells. The resulting spectra is completely different for light polarized along and perpendicular to the growth direction.
Scalar meson effects in radiative decays of vector mesons
Kerman (Solmaz), Saime; Gökalp, Ahmet; Department of Physics (2003)
The role of scalar mesons in radiative vector meson decays is investigated. The effects of scalar-isoscalar f_{0}(980) and scalar-isovector a_{0}(980) mesons are studied in the mechanism of the radiative Phi->pi{+}pi{-}gamma and phi->pi{0}eta gamma decays, respectively. A phenomenological approach is used to study the radiative phi->pi{+}p{-}gamma decay by considering the contributions of sigma-meson, rho-meson and f_{0}-meson. The interference effects between different contributions are analyzed and the br...
