A naturally fractured carbonate reservoir is chosen for implementing uncertainty assessment on estimation of original oil in place. The probability distribution of uncertain variables is defined in reserve estimation and evaluating probable reserve by using Monte Carlo simulation. There serves are estimated for Karabogaz, Kbb-C member of Karababa and Derdere formations. The reserve estimation in fracture is based on available logs and tests about fracture parameters like density and width. The production data is used for verifying the calculated fracture porosity distributions. The mean of reserve distributions are close to deterministic ones. The sensitivity analysis on input parameters showed that matrix porosity, net thickness, and fracture porosity are significant in Karabogaz and Kbb-C formation reserve estimation while water saturation and fracture porosity are most significant in estimation of Derdere formation reserves.

Predicting Frictional Pressure Loss During Horizontal Drilling for Non-Newtonian Fluids
SORGUN, MEHMET; Ozbayoglu, M. E. (Informa UK Limited, 2011-01-01)
Accurate estimation of the frictional pressure losses for non-Newtonian drilling fluids inside annulus is quite important to determine pump rates and select mud pump systems during drilling operations. The purpose of this study is to estimate frictional pressure loss and velocity profile of non-Newtonian drilling fluids in both concentric and eccentric annuli using an Eulerian-Eulerian computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model. An extensive experimental program was performed in METU-PETE Flow Loop using two ...
Feasibility study of heavy oil field
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2008-01-01)
In this study, application of different enhanced tertiary oil recovery methods were applied considering fluid properties and reservoir characteristics of the heavy oil field. Effect of different oil and inflation rates were analyzed considering project economic life, pay out time, cash flow, and profit to investment ratio for steam flooding and CO2 methods. CO2 injection is found to be more profitable than the steam injection due to the high cost of steam injection operations and reservoir depth.
Reserve estimation using geostatistics
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2008-01-01)
Application of geostatistics are being increasingly considered by reservoir analysts and engineers in generating more accurate reservoir models together with usable measures of spatial uncertainty. Geostatistics provides a probabilistic framework and a toolbox for data analysis with early integration of information. In this research, hydrocarbon volume of afield is estimated considering different parameters as gross rock volume, net to gross rock thickness, porosity, permeability, and saturation. Therefore,...
The Application of Water-flood Technology for Different Oil Fields
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2011-01-01)
Water-flooding is perhaps the most common method of secondary recovery, in which water is injected into the reservoir formation to displace residual oil. The water from injection wells physically sweeps the displaced oil to adjacent production wells. In this study, three different fields from different locations were studied for a possible water-flooding operation using software. Through the results obtained from the application, certain predictions were obtained about the water-flood performance of the oil...
Modeling of CO2 storage in an oil reservoir
Gumrah, F.; Dulger, M.; Gunaydin, D.; Senel, O. (Informa UK Limited, 2008-01-01)
This study provides an overview for the carbon dioxide sequestration process in an oil reservoir by using the software CMG's GEM. Different scenarios are applied for the oil reservoir description. Firstly, a single layered reservoir is considered and simulation studies are performed, as this reservoir is homogeneous, heterogeneous and fractured. Secondly, a multi-layered reservoir is examined. In the second case, a heterogeneous system and a heterogeneous system composed of homogenous layers are selected. F...
