Rheological analysis of ceramic pastes
Özkan, Necati; Briscoe, Brian J.; Aydin, Ismail (1999-12-01)
This paper is concerned with a number of means of characterising the rheological properties of a ceramic paste. The intrinsic flow behaviour of the paste, during upsetting, is studied experimentally by using multi coloured paste samples, as well as by a finite element numerical computation. The flow behaviour of the paste is approximated by an elasto-viscoplastic material constitutive model and implemented by using an established finite element code. The material flow properties, which are necessary for the...
Rheological Behaviour of Bentonite—Apple Juice Dispersions
Dik, Tunay (Elsevier BV, 1994-2)
Rheological behavior of the bentonite-apple juice suspensions were experimentally determined within the range of the industrial clarification processes: shear rate 4.3 to 43.1 s-1, pH 4.0-5.0, temperature 10-50°C, bentonite concentration 0.66-2.66 g/L. The experimental data were described with the power law as: τ = Kγ1.56. Temperature effects on the consistency index K agreed with the Arrhenius expression. Although no trend was observed in variation of the Arrhenius model constants with bentonite concentrat...
Rheological evaluation of polymers as drilling fluids
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2003-01-01)
Polymers are recently found and still developing materials to overcome some drilling problems where conventional drilling fluids are not satisfactory enough. Simply, they are the best materials to use since they are non-toxic and do not cause serious environmental problems. In addition, polymeric drilling fluids may have properties such as better carrying capacity, less fluid loss, and thinner filtration cake depending on their composition and concentration. In this research, rheological parameters of two d...
