Yesin, T
This paper is a case study of thermodynamic and economics related analyses applied to an existing gas/steam combined cycle cogeneration plant. Basic thermodynamic properties of the plant are determined by energy analysis utilizing main operation conditions. Exergy destruction and losses within the plant are investigated to determine thermodynamic inefficiencies in the system and to assist for guiding future improvements in the plant. Cost bakances are applied to several subsystems in the plant, hence cost formation in the plant is observed. Besides, cost of each product of the system is calculated.

A comparative study of empirical potential energy functions: Applications to clusters
Gunes, P; Simsek, S; Erkoç, Şakir (2000-05-01)
We have made a comparative study for the empirical potential energy functions proposed and parametrized for coinacal metals, namely Cu, Ag, and Au. We have considered four different potential energy functions, and applied them to investigate the structural properties and energetics of clusters of the elements considered.
A rippability classification system for marls in lignite mines
BASARIR, H; Karpuz, Celal (Elsevier BV, 2004-08-01)
This paper describes the development of a rippability classification system for marls in lignites mines based on direct ripping runs, specific energy concept and indirect rippability assessment methods. Extensive field and laboratory studies were undertaken in six different panels of Turkish Coal Enterprises and Sivas-Kangal Lignite mines. Rock mass descriptions were made, seismic P-wave velocities are measured at the field, direct cutting tests and rock material property determination tests were carried ou...
Evaluation of PCB dechlorination pathways in anaerobic sediment microcosms using an anaerobic dechlorination model
Demirtepe, Hale; Kjellerup, Birthe; Sowers, Kevin R.; İmamoğlu, İpek (Elsevier BV, 2015-10-15)
A detailed quantitative analysis of anaerobic dechlorination (AD) pathways of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in sediment microcosms was performed by applying an anaerobic dechlorination model (ADM). The purpose of ADM is to systematically analyze changes in a contaminant profile that result from microbial reductive dechlorination according to empirically determined dechlorination pathways. In contrast to prior studies that utilized modeling tools to predict dechlorination pathways, ADM also provides quant...
A novel topological index for coding of alternant systems
Türker, Burhan Lemi (2003-06-01)
Starting with the concept of T(A) graphs for alternant hydrocarbons, a novel topological index is defined. The index differentiates isomeric as well as isospectral molecules very well. The index is applicable to saturated or unsaturated systems and can be extended to heteroatom containing structures.
