The possible contribution of two-photon exchange to electron deuteron elastic scattering at relatively high momentum transfer is discussed. This study was motivated by the high precision data recently obtained at the Jefferson Laboratory. Using general arguments, based on crossing symmetry for the processes e(-) + h --> e(-) + h and e(+) + e(-) --> h + (h) over bar, we find a parametrization for the angular dependence of the interference between the one- and two-photon exchanges in the differential cross section for elastic ed scattering in terms of a new kinematical variable and compare our findings to the recent data. Search for evidence of asymptotic regime of nucleon electromagnetic form factors from a compared analysis in space- and time-like regions
Tomasi-Gustafsson, E; Rekalo, MP (2001-04-19)
We compare the existing data about electromagnetic form factors of the proton in the time-like region of momentum transfer (up to s similar or equal to 14 GeV2), with the corresponding data in the space-like region. From the constrains given by the PhragmenLindelof theorem, it turns out that the asymptotic regime can not be reached simultaneously for both form factors (electric and magnetic) in the considered region of momentum transfer. The angular dependence for the annihilation processes, such as (p) ove...
Search for Higgs boson pair production in the bb tau state in proton-proton collisions at root(s)=8 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (2017-10-01)
Results are presented from a search for production of Higgs boson pairs (HH) where one boson decays to a pair of b quarks and the other to a t lepton pair. This work is based on proton-proton collision data collected by the CMS experiment at root(s) = 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 18.3 fb (TM) (1). Resonant and nonresonant modes of HH production have been probed and no significant excess relative to the background-only hypotheses has been found in either mode. Upper limits on cross sec...
Search for Leptoquarks Coupled to Third-Generation Quarks in Proton-Proton Collisions at root s=13 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2018-12-01)
Three of the most significant measured deviations from standard model predictions, the enhanced decay rate for B -> D-(*())tau nu, hints of lepton universality violation in B -> K-(*())ll decays, and the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, can be explained by the existence of leptoquarks (LQs) with large couplings to third-generation quarks and masses at the TeV scale. The existence of these states can be probed at the LHC in high energy proton-proton collisions. A novel search is presented for pair prod...
Search for electroweak production of charginos and neutralinos in WH events in proton-proton collisions at root s=13 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2017-11-01)
Results are reported from a search for physics beyond the standard model in proton-proton collision events with a charged lepton (electron or muon), two jets identi fi ed as originating from a bottom quark decay, and signi fi cant imbalance in the transverse momentum. The search was performed using a data sample corresponding to 35.9 fb(-1), collected by the CMS experiment in 2016 at root s = 13 TeV. Events with this signature can arise, for example, from the electroweak production of gauginos, which are pr...
Search for top squark pair production in pp collisions at root s=13 TeV using single lepton events
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2017-10-01)
A search for top squark pair production in pp collisions at root s = 13 TeV is performed using events with a single isolated electron or muon, jets, and a large transverse momentum imbalance. The results are based on data collected in 2016 with the CMS detector at the LHC, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1). No significant excess of events is observed above the expectation from standard model processes. Exclusion limits are set in the context of supersymmetric models of pair production...
