C-13 solid-state n.m.r. spectra of samples of 14 coals and their pyridine residues representative of the three depositions in the Shanxi province of the People's Republic of China are described in detail. The results confirm those of previous infrared spectroscopy in showing these vitrinite-inertinite coals to have similar chemical structures and aromaticities to coals of the same rank from Euramerica and Gondwana.

Trace and major element compositions of Black Sea aerosol
KARAKAŞ, DURAN; Olmez, I; Tosun, S; Tuncel, Süleyman Gürdal (2004-01-01)
Instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA), flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS), flame atomic emission spectrometry (FAES), graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GF-AAS), ion chromatography (IC) and visible spectrometry (VIS) were used to determine the composition of atmospheric aerosols, collected at a rural site in the Western Black Sea Coast of Turkey. A total of 3 54 daily aerosol samples were analyzed for 46 trace and major elements and ions. Sample preparation, quality control ...
Indirect nuclear exchange coupling and electronic structure of the chain semiconductor TlSe: A Tl-203 and Tl-205 NMR study
Panich, AM; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2001-05-15)
We report an NMR study of the indirect nuclear exchange coupling, electronic structure, and wave-functions overlap in the single crystal of semiconductor TlSe which has a chain structure and comprises two kinds of Tl atoms, Tl1+ and Tl3+. Strong exchange coupling among the spins of Tl1+ and Tl3+ ions, which reside in neighboring chains, is observed. This interaction is significantly stronger than the exchange coupling of the equivalent atoms within the chains. Such an interchain coupling is realized due to ...
Polypyrrole grafts with poly[(methyl methacrylate)-co-(2-(N-pyrrolyl) ethyl methacrylate)]
Balci, N; Akbulut, Ural; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Stanke, D; Hallensleben, ML (1997-10-01)
Conducting polymer grafts of pyrrole and poly[(methyl methacrylate)-co-(2-(N-pyrrolyl) ethyl methacrylate)] containing 0.7% PEMA units were prepared by potentiostatic anodic polymerization of pyrrole in different electrolytic media. Grafting between copolymer and pyrrole was achieved in media where tetrabutylammonium fluoroborate and sodium perchlorate were used as the supporting electrolytes. Characterizations were made by using FT-IR, DSC, TGA, SEM, CV, and elemental analysis. The conductivities of the re...
Phase separation in SiGe nanocrystals embedded in SiO2 matrix during high temperature annealing
Mogaddam, N. A. P.; Alagoz, A. S.; Yerci, Selçuk; Turan, Raşit; FOSS, SEAN; Finstad, T. G. (2008-12-15)
SiGe nanocrystals have been formed in SiO2 matrix by cosputtering Si, Ge, and SiO2 independently on Si substrate. Effects of the annealing time and temperature on structural and compositional properties are studied by transmission electron microscopy, x-ray diffraction (XRD), and Raman spectroscopy measurements. It is observed that Ge-rich Si(1-x)Gex nanocrystals do not hold their compositional uniformity when annealed at high temperatures for enough long time. A segregation process leading to separation of...
Optical characterization of silicon based hydrogenated amorphous thin films by un-visible and infrared measurements
Kılıç, İlker; Katırcıoğlu, Bayram; Department of Physics (2006)
Various carbon content hydrogenated amorphous silicon carbide (a-Si1ŁxCx:H) and hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) thin films have been deposited on various substrates by using plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition (PECVD) technique. Transmission spectra of these films have been determined within UV-Visible region and the obtained data were analysed to find related physical constants such as; refractive indices, thicknesses, etc. Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometry technique has been u...
