In this article, two different novel Coplanar Waveguides (CPW) structures have been proposed and analyzed. The CPW structures proposed provide flexibility for practical applications. For the analyses, conformal mapping techniques were employed. The closed form analytical expressions arc generally suitable for usage in CAD-oriented microwave circuit design. Both the structures have been simulated for quasi-TEM mode in a 3D commercially available software. In addition, the results obtained in this work have been compared with the others available in the literature. Simulations and comparisons give support to the validity of the obtained analytical expressions in this study. (C) 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

A continuum model for dephasing in mesoscopic systems
Şenozan, Selma; Turgut, Sadi; Tomak, Mehmet (Elsevier BV, 2011-08-01)
A model of continuous dephasing for one-dimensional mesoscopic conductors is proposed. The model is based on Buttiker's fictitious-probe model which is extended by attaching an infinite number of probes uniformly to various points on the conductor. The associated scattering problem is then solved. When the continuum limit is taken, it becomes possible to describe the dephasing as taking place everywhere. The dephasing rate enters into the model as an adjustable parameter. The effect of dephasing on the cond...
Extension of forward-backward method with DFT-based acceleration algorithm for the efficient analysis of large periodic arrays with arbitrary boundaries
Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem; Chou, HT (Wiley, 2005-11-05)
An extension of the discrete Fourier transform (DFT)-based forward-backward algorithm is developed using the virtual-element approach to provide a fast and accurate analysis of electromagnetic radiation/scattering front electrically large, planar, periodic, finite (phased) arrays with arbitrary boundaries. Both the computational complexity and storage requirements of this approach are O(N-tot) (N-tot is the total number of unknowns). The numerical results for both printed and freestanding dipole array's wit...
A small CPW-fed UWB antenna with dual band-notched charectrestics using two stepped impedance resonators
Sefidi, Mehdi; Zehforoosh, Yashar; Moradi, Shahram (Wiley, 2016-02-01)
In this article, we propose a compact cpw-fed ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with dual band-notched characteristics. The dual band-notched are achieved by using two stepped impedance resonators. The measured results show that the proposed antenna has an impedance bandwidth from 2.97 to 10.7 GHz (113%), defined by VSWR<2, with two notched bands, covering all the WiMAX (3.3-3.6 GHz), WLAN (5.2-5.8 GHz), the antenna has a small size (20 x 20 x 1.6 mm(3)), and almost stable omnidirectional radiation pattern. The ...
Full-wave analysis of microstrip lines on a highly lossy substrate
Prakash, VVS; Kuzuoğlu, Mustafa; Mittra, R (Wiley, 2003-06-05)
The finite-element method has been used for analyzing open microstrip line structures on highly lossy substrates. The geometry descritization has been carried out by using quadrilateral elements, and the spurious solutions art avoided by employing tangential vector formulation. The difficulties associated with finding the propagation constant of a highly lossy structure 13.1, solving a generalized eigenvalue problem are discussed. A methodology is presented, for a fast and efficient computation of the attenu...
A spectral collocation algorithm for two-point boundary value problem in fiber Raman amplifier equations
Tarman, Işık Hakan (Elsevier BV, 2009-04-15)
A novel algorithm implementing Chebyshev spectral collocation (pseudospectral) method in combination with Newton's method is proposed for the nonlinear two-point boundary value problem (BVP) arising in solving propagation equations in fiber Raman amplifier. Moreover, an algorithm to train the known linear solution for use as a starting solution for the Newton iteration is proposed and successfully implemented. The exponential accuracy obtained by the proposed Chebyshev pseudospectral method is demonstrated ...
