Sorption of barium on kaolinite, montmorillonite and chlorite
Eylem, Cahit; Erten, Hasan N.; Göktürk, Hale (Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), 1989)
The sorption characteristics of the Ba2+ ion on kaolinite, montmorillonite and chlorite type clays were studied using the batch method. Barium-133 was used as a tracer. The Ba2+ ion concentrations ranged from 10–8 to 10–5 mol l–1; synthetic groundwater was used and the grain size of all the solid particles was <40 µm. About 6, 8 and 12 d of shaking were necessary to reach equilibrium for chlorite, kaolinite and montmorillonite, respectively. The sorption isotherms were described best by Freundlich and Dubin...
Sorption and desorption of barium on kaolinite, montmirillonite and chlorite

Sorption of radioactive cesium and barium ions onto solid humic acid
Celebi, O.; Kilikli, A.; ERTEN, HASAN NİYAZİ (Elsevier BV, 2009-09-15)
In this study, the sorption behavior of two important fission product radionuclides ((137)Cs and (140)Ba) onto sodium form of insolubilized humic acid (INaA) were investigated as a function of time, cation concentration and temperature, utilizing the radiotracer method. The sorption processes are well described by both Freundlich and Dubinin-Radushkevich type isotherms. Thermodynamic constants such as: free energy (Delta G(ads)), enthalpy (Delta H(ads)), entropy (Delta S(ads)) of adsorption were determined....
Sorption of cadmium and lead on activated carbons produced from resins and agricultural wastes
Akgün, Aydın Mert; Yücel, Hayrettin; Department of Chemical Engineering (2005)
In this work, adsorption of cadmium and lead from waste solutions by activated carbon was investigated. The activated carbons were produced from ion exchange resins and agricultural wastes in previous thesis studies under different conditions. BET surface areas of the activated carbons were given in previous studies. They were further characterized in this study. Slurry pH was measured by change in pH of water in which activated carbon was added. Methylene blue numbers were determined by adsorption of methy...
Sorption/desorption of Cs on clay and soil fractions from various regions of Turkey
Aksoyoglu, S.; Göktürk, H. (Elsevier BV, 1988-2)
The sorption desorption behaviour of Cs ion in the concentration region of 10−8 to 10−4 meqml−1 have been studied using clay and soil fractions from various regions of Turkey. The sorption curves for all the material studied show similar behaviour indicating at least two different sorption processes. One with high and the other with low distribution coefficients. The results of desorption studies indicate that Cs cation is to a large extent attached to the solid material in a reversible manner. The adsorpti...
