In this paper, new and fast analytical formulations have been presented for conductor loss calculations of elliptical (ECPW) and cylindrical coplanar waveguide (CCPW) with finite conductor thickness. These expressions are derived using conformal mapping techniques (CMT) and the validity of them is established by comparing the numerical results in the literature. These comparisons indicate that for the same conductor thickness the conductor losses of elliptical and cylindrical coplanar waveguide are higher than the conductor losses of coplanar waveguide presented in [1]. Calculation method developed in this study is an extension of the approximate technique proposed by Ghione [1].

Dynamic analysis of beams with breathing crack using finite element method
Özkan, Berkay; Kadıoğlu, Fevzi Suat; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2017)
Non-linear dynamic characteristics of a beam with a breathing crack are investigated using finite element method. This thesis has two main objectives: (1) to obtain a foresight for the vibration based crack detection by using finite element method (2) to investigate the effects of crack location, crack depth, excitation frequency, excitation amplitude and boundary conditions on the indications of crack presence. Two dimensional finite element approach is used to model a square cross sectional beam subjected...
BEM solution of MHD flow in a pipe coupled with magnetic induction of exterior region
Tezer, Münevver (2013-05-01)
In this paper, numerical solutions are presented for the MHD flow in a pipe surrounded by an electrically conducting medium, and under the influence of a transverse magnetic field. The boundary element method is used which discretizes only the pipe wall and is suitable for the infinite exterior region. Coupled MHD equations for the velocity and induced magnetic field inside the pipe, and the induced magnetic field equation for the outside medium are solved simultaneously taking into account also coupled bou...
Transient waves in viscoelastic cylindrical layered media
Abu Alshaikh, I; Turhan, D; Mengi, Y (2002-09-01)
Propagation of two-dimensional transient waves in viscoelastic cylindrical layered media is investigated. The cylindrical multilayered medium consists of N different isotropic, homogeneous and linearly viscoelastic layers with two discrete relaxation times. A numerical technique which combines the complex Fourier series with the method of characteristics is employed to obtain the solutions. The numerical results are displayed in curves denoting the variations of the stress and displacement components with t...
Magnetic ordering in two ferromagnetic sublattices of two mixed-valence iron(II)-iron(III) metal formate frameworks
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (2019-11-01)
Temperature dependence of magnetization (M) is calculated for two mixed-valence iron(II) - iron(III) metal formate frameworks (MOFs) with the two ferromagnetic sublattices below T-comp (compensation temperature) at 100 Oe by the molecular field theory. Temperature dependence of magnetization (M-T) is analyzed between T(comp )and T-ord = 39K (ordering temperature) by the power-law formula using the literature data for those compounds. Power-law analysis is also carried out for the field dependence of magneti...
Characteristic Mode Analysis of Unit Cells of Metal-Only Infinite Arrays
Haykır, Yiğit; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem (2019-09-01)
Characteristic mode analysis of metal only unit cells of periodic structures is performed using Method of Moments based formulation. Ewald's transformation is incorporated for a fast and cost efficient solution and the advantages over spatial Green's function are discussed. The influence of the unit cell size on the characteristic modes is demonstrated. Various metal-only reflectarray elements are compared and their radiation characteristics are interpreted using the theory of characteristic modes. It is sh...
