Control of the thickness distribution of evaporated functional electroceramic NTC thermistor thin films
Schmidt, R.; Parlak, Mehmet; Brinkman, Am (Elsevier BV, 2008-04-01)
In this work the thickness distribution of NTC thermistor thin films produced by low deposition rate (0.8 nm s(-1)) electron-beam evaporation is investigated. The target preparation, deposition conditions and geometrical set-up of the evaporation mechanism are described in detail. The evaporation geometry is shown to be critical for the thickness distribution of evaporated films. The film thickness distribution of evaporated layers was measured across a macroscopic film surface using Alpha Step stylus profi...
Control allocation against actuator failures in overactuated small satellites
Kahraman, Özgür; Tekinalp, Ozan; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2007)
In this thesis, attitude control of small satellites with dissimilar actuator is studied and the effects of control allocation methods on maneuvering are examined in detail. Magnetorquers and reaction wheels are considered as the actuators of a modeled remote sensing -nadir pointing- small satellite. Matlab® Simulink simulation models are developed to model the satellite dynamics and the actuators on the satellite. The simulations are based on conceptual RASAT satellite, and, for verification, orbit data is...

Control of underactuated planar pronking through an embedded spring-mass Hopper template
Ankaralı, Mustafa Mert; Saranlı, Uluç (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2011-02-01)
Autonomous use of legged robots in unstructured, outdoor settings requires dynamically dexterous behaviors to achieve sufficient speed and agility without overly complex and fragile mechanics and actuation. Among such behaviors is the relatively under-studied pronking (aka. stotting), a dynamic gait in which all legs are used in synchrony, usually resulting in relatively slow speeds but long flight phases and large jumping heights. Instantiations of this gait for robotic systems have been mostly limited to ...
