A mass spectrometric investigation has been performed on the gases evolved during the pyrolysis of natural and some synthetic rubbers over the temperature range 30-450-degrees It was found that variations in ion ratio with temperature reveal interesting structural information. The ion ratio-temperature profiles of the ions representative of styrene and butadiene in block copolymers are very similar to the corresponding ratios for the homopolymers but differ appreciably from those for the statistical copolymers. These ion ratio-temperature plots display stronger structural features if the polymer main chain contains pendant groups.

Synthesis, characterization and electrochromic properties of copolymer of 3-{[4-(thien-3-yl-methoxy)phenoxy]methyl} thiophene with thiophene
Erden, Ayca; Sahin, Elif; Gullu, Mustafa; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2006-08-01)
(3- {[4-(Thien-3-yl-methoxy)phenoxy]methyl} thiophene) (TMPMT) was synthesized via the reaction of 3-bromomethyl-thiophene with hydroquinone and characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). Electrochemical copolymerization of TMPMT with thiophene in acetonitrile/boron trifluoride diethyl etherate (AN/BFEE) solvent mixture was achieved using tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate (TBAFB) as the supporting electrolyte. Resulting copolymer was characterize...
A functional immobilization matrix based on a conducting polymer and functionalized gold nanoparticles: Synthesis and its application as an amperometric glucose biosensor
Kesik, Melis; Kanik, Fulya Ekiz; Hizalan, Gonul; Kozanoglu, Duygu; Nalbant Esentürk, Emren; Timur, Suna; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2013-08-02)
Combination of nanoparticles and biomolecules attracted considerable attention in biosensing applications. In this study, effective surface design was investigated by modifying the electrode surface with pristine and functionalized gold nanoparticles. For this purpose, spherical gold nanoparticles were synthesized and characterized with UV-vis spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analyses. Then, gold nanoparticles were modified with mercaptopropionic acid (MPA) yielding Au-S bonds (Au NPs...
Observation of Electroweak Production of Same-Sign W Boson Pairs in the Two Jet and Two Same-Sign Lepton Final State in Proton-Proton Collisions at root s=13 TeV
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2018-02-01)
The first observation of electroweak production of same-sign W boson pairs in proton-proton collisions is reported. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb(-1) collected at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV with the CMS detector at the LHC. Events are selected by requiring exactly two leptons (electrons or muons) of the same charge, moderate missing transverse momentum, and two jets with a large rapidity separation and a large dijet mass. The observed significance of the signal is...
Observation of Top Quark Production in Proton-Nucleus Collisions
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2017-12-01)
The first observation of top quark production in proton-nucleus collisions is reported using proton-lead data collected by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of root(S)(NN) = 8.16 TeV. The measurement is performed using events with exactly one isolated electron or muon candidate and at least four jets. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 174 nb(-1). The significance of the tt signal against the background-only hypothesis is above 5 standard d...
Search for WH production with a light Higgs boson decaying to prompt electron-jets in proton-proton collisions at root s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
Aad, G.; et. al. (IOP Publishing, 2013-04-08)
A search is performed for WH production with a light Higgs boson decaying to hidden-sector particles resulting in clusters of collimated electrons, known as electron-jets. The search is performed with 2.04 fb(-1) of data collected in 2011 with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider in proton-proton collisions at root s = 7 TeV. One event satisfying the signal selection criteria is observed, which is consistent with the expected background rate. Limits on the product of the WH production cross secti...
